He just looks like he really doesn't want to be out there. Usually the only time I notice him in a game is when he is jogging after a guy after he missed the play. Would sure be nice for someone to give him a wake up call and put some fire in him.

Can't win em all

Make HIM sleep outside until 4h30 if he loafs?

HJe could also put on some weight, he looks like a toothpick out there.

Could not agree more. He is becoming a huge disappointment. He misses a tackle on a draw run right at him and then puts half the effort into chasing the runner down from behind (which he didnt). What the hell has happened to him?!?

When has he ever been different?

When has he ever been different?

i agree another big star (4 or 5 stars) recruit that doesnt think he needs to work to get better. he should be dominating with manti in the middle and that defense around him. i would rather a couple 3-4 star guys that want to play for ND, i would take them before most other recruits.

thats why i like that kelly has recruited those types of players 3-4 star players with a ton of upside and a will to play at ND.

GO IRISH!!

I remember that draw play for sure but I thought he played pretty well on Saturday. I do wish he played with a bit more fire but I'm far from giving up on him like some of you. Hell, I won't even call him a disappointment given that his major issue has always been that he's raw.

I don't think he's "loafing," so let's not get on him about his work ethic, please.

I do, however, think the game is still moving too fast for him, and it shows. He looked ok against Navy, but since then has been invisible.

He's still got two years of eligibility after this, so let's not bury the kid. But right now, he's not earning playing time, and I hope that the staff continues to develop him so that one day down the line he'll be a force.

The staff knew what they were getting with Ishaq when he came to ND -- a really raw player that pretty much needed to learn the game. Let's give him a break, because it's not like him being out there is killing us defensively or anything.

This is just a dumb, dumb post.

All right, first off, i WANT to believe you.

Problem is, the camera has not been kind to Ishaq apart from 1-2 plays in said Navy game. Rest of the time it has shown him, we've either seen tackle poorly (seemingly showing a lack of effort, albeit i could give you/him the benefit of the doubt and say it is a lack of technique, but again, why would he be the ONLY player on a weel coached defense that SEEMS to consistently tackle poorly.)

Even worse, on plays away from him where we see the rest of the defense swarm to the ball, it's hard not to notice a casually jogging Ishaq.... Does he simply expects othersmto make plays without him, does he not care, he is out of shape? You tell me.

Can you develop desire? I say it is difficult, but again, BK proved it is possible with guys like Jonas Gray, to the point where it has become difficult today vs year 1 to look at our defense and pinpoint someone not giving 100%... Except for one notable exception.

Wish i was wrong, and strongly wish Ishaq gets that spark and makes me eat crow, but so far, with the kind of team and defense we have, if that kind of killer instinctmhasn't yet infected him, not sure it ever will.

Isn't this the kid that we undecut Penn State for? He was about to take a trip out there and we just showed up at his door in the AM and swooped him?

You would think that would set an expectation for the kind of culture he could expect at ND. Maybe he is jaded.

still a very raw young player who played in a very mediocre high school league.

He still has plenty of time to be an impact player, people just need to be patient and accept the process.

What's wrong with some of you guys that it HAS to happen for all these guys AS SOON as they get or or VERY SOON after????

Everyone is on a different clock. He's got a half of a season left this year - plus three weeks+ of bowl practice, and two more springs and offseasons and seasons.

It's gonna happen for this kid, don't be the silly guy who writes him off because he isn't emerging on YOUR lamely concieved schedule.

I don't think anyone is questioning his ability but rather his motivation. You start to see a trend with this guy dragging his feet after plays, just not getting after it. This is not a development issue, it is an attitude issue.

Who knows though? Maybe he is having a bad emotional time or something? I don't know, but I think everyone expects a little more hustle. Don't have to make all the plays, but you gotta give it a shot.

KLM's sack in the first quarter was a direct result of an outstanding job by Ishaq occupying and driving a double-team from BYU's center and right guard.

People need to be patient with this kid. Has he been incredible? Absolutely not. But he's been nowhere near as terrible as what many people think. If the coaches felt his effort was as questionable as some here think, do you think he'd be playing as much as he has--particularly in 3rd and long situations?

Just because he's not putting up eye-popping numbers on the stat sheet doesn't mean he's not quietly doing his job . . .

Yeah, he looks more like he's slowly getting better and will be able to put it all together more in years 3 and 4 than in years 1 and 2.

Not every 5 star player dominates from year 1 like Manti and Tuitt. Some need to grow and learn, and put it together in their last couple years. Honestly, he (Ishaq) probably would be better in a 5 year mentality and to have redshirted his freshman year.

What do you know about either?

I mean, honestly what in the world do you or anyone else here know about his motivation and attitide to question it?

What you watch on TV?

Not trying to be disrespectful, but it's been proven time and again and over and over and over that how most fans watch and interpret football and players on TV rarely lines up with reality.

The only thing you're going to impact half-assing it to the ball is a seat on the bench eventually...

I have repeatedly seen him lollygagging it to the ball when the play has passed him by.

I have ZERO patience for that.

He runs like a girl

Seriously, watch the tape
