Coach was asked to reminisce about that 2008 game he coached in Norman, specifically what he took away from that game, i thought his remarks were somewhat telling.

"I think what i took away from that game mostly was ??? when i was at Cincinatti there was still a bit of a GAP, even though we were a team that was playing very well, there was STILL a bit of a GAP between us and Oklahoma"

I think that description clearly implies something , something easy to hear in that----

That THIS TIME , Coach Kelly feels much more on an even footing with the sooners bringing his undefeated irish team & irish defense into Norman---

I wager Kelly does NOT feel like an underdog going into this game.

Time will tell if that confidence is justified but its pretty clear the Coach and likely his team as well , will be VERY CONFIDENT going into this game.

aloha's go irish!

And yet they are a 10 point dog!

I hope they can muster the confidence that it will take to get up for this game.

I hope EG has healed from the Stanford game.

I hope EG will come out with an attitude and show that he can lead this team.

I hope the Oline can protect EG and open holes for the running backs.

I hope the game can be more balanced pass and run.

I hope they can put together an offensive out put like they did against Miami.

Most of all, I simply hope they win!!!!

GO IRISH!!!

We are going to shock the world. Period. After this win, we will jump to #2

Not sure why you'd think that, since KSU has beaten Oklahoma, a ranked WVa, and a ranked TTech (this weekend). They're on a roll and we won't jump them....not this week anyway.

Sorry, we are going to get thumped in Norman. Offense is too anemic. We are going to need 24 points to keep it close and we aren't there yet on the offensive side of the ball.

Well, we will have BiG East refs!

If they decide to call holding this week, we got a shot !

Better bake that crow into a casserole or pie because you are going to have to share it with me. I don't want to be debbie downer but I see no evidence that we walk away from Norman with a W. If the offense had progressed at the level we all hoped for (That is a continued consistency and ascension after Miami) I would STILL feel a little uncomfortable. One of the toughest places in the FBS to play, a team that is playing better every week (Oklahoma), and our offense still has some bugs to work out.

I think we beat SC, but Oklahoma looks like an L to me. I could be wrong, I pray I am. I will be praying for ND to win. I would much rather be 8-0 than right.

I am unfortunately with you. I know we *can* beat OU if we play our best and catch some breaks, but this is a tall order no matter how you slice it. Again, hoping we're wrong but I can't tell myself we're going to win this one.

What I'm a missing that makes Oklahoma some unbeatable juggernaut? Good team, of course. Maybe a great team? Sure. But what exactly have they done this year that makes them so great?

Put up 63 on Texas? Texas has it's worst defense in school history and is 115th in the nation on D.

Beat 1-6 Kansas really, really bad?

Demolished 1-AA Florida A&M?

Squaked by UTEP?

Beat Texas Tech? Yep, that is a good win against a good team.

Lost to Kansas St.? Kansas St. beat Miami the same way we did. I'd like to think we are similar to Kansas St. with a better D and worse QB.

So they have one good win, a bunch of wins over bad teams and a loss at home to a team similar to ND. Now suddenly it's going to be a miracle to go in there and get a win?

ND played FSU very similar to them last year, but ND couldn't finish late.

I'm not suggesting ND is going to go in and win by 20, or that there is no way they lose, but I'm not seeing how ND is going to be so overmatched that they need a perfect game to win.

Sure, Oklahoma's passing game is good and our secondary is our weak spot, but their O-Line isn't great and our D-Line is a strength.

It isn't like ND is just outmanned at every position.

The ceiling for this season is 10-2 in my opinion. Oklahoma will win by a minimum of 3 touchdowns. I wouldn't be shocked to end up 9-3. Our offense will finally cost the team a big game this weekend. At this point I am just hoping to get beat on less than Texas did.

I think that OK is very beatable, I just don't see us getting it done. Let's be honest here, ND is STILL not a consistant team. Still a lot of hiccups. Defense is elite, offense has a lot of ground to make up, though. I love the direction and I think we CAN beat OK, I just don't know that we do.

OK is not indestructible, and ND can beat any team on the right day, just need a lot of things to line up here.

No shit, right? Oklahoma isnt posting up more than 25 points against our D. The question is whether or not we can score more.

Geez, how does it feel to be an optimist?

Texas gave up 17 points to 1-6 Wyoming. We haven't given up more than 17 all season.

Heck, in their 5 games against BCS teams, Texas is giving up 45.6 points per game!

I wouldnt say its optimism considering I still think we are going to lose. :) Im a realist---not crazy. I dont think theres a team in the country that could hang more than 30 on this defense.

I know you aren't totally to optimist land yet, but compared to nremdn you are Mr. Rogers on Ritalin at this point.

It will be interesting to see the numbers from the game prediction this week. I didn't think BYU was going to put 14 on ND. Giving them a short field on the second BS TD hurts a lot. The key to this game is the offense. If they give up the ball on TOs and give Oklahoma a short field, I think they could put up 30 points. If they take care of the ball I don't think they get above 17.

Maybe. We got to 20 on Mich. St. and that was playing safe in the second half. I'm not sure Oklahoma is better on D than Michigan St.

I actually think if ND can get anything going in the run game, Golson can get to the edge on some play action and make some plays downfield. I know we haven't seen it much, but I think the line will be able to take control of their D. Plus, the field should be in better shape than ND is used to. I think we will see some burst out of the RB's on cuts and such. They won't be sliding as much.

I know there really isn't much to go on, but I think ND can get to 27. Our O-Line has struggled with big, physical front 7's, but done well against undersized teams.
