I did really dig the plays where GAIII came in and was set in motion from the slot I think, giving the defense another option to really have to account for on running plays. I don't know about you but this is exactly the type of play I've been screaming for since last year as it relates to our run game. I thought coming out of the Spring that slot/RB role was going to be Theo's calling card this year with GAIII and Wood the "primary" backs.

 

Either way I'm glad to see this formation being utilized today and hopefully it'll get more play as we go along.

We sold the reverse all day. Got the TD the one time we went to it. Love it

I loved it too. Don't know what took so long but BYU came in ranked 3rd? In rush defense and we had 2 backs over 100 yards.

Those formations were something I thought we would have seen earlier in the season, and wish we would have. Hopefully Kelly/Martin realize that formation is a keeper.

it was a formation we used last year with Floyd in motion. Love the concept, if the defense expands you give it up the the middle, if the defense crams the middle the coach calls the jet sweep

 

As Golson grows up that will be a readable play call, and he will be the third option.

 

As it was it was a great concept to use without a mobile QB because you still have two running options instead of just one.

I wonder if we'll see GAIII's crazy sprint draw again against OU that we saw against MSU.. I think I saw them go back to it a few games ago without much success, but that play has too much potential to toss to the side.

I'd like to see Troy lined up in the backfield as a lead blocker for our rb's, with a head start he would clear the hole, and he's so huge they wouldn't be able to see the back

Yup. They key to its success was that we sold it that entire drive instead of just going to it. It seems we're in a tough spot where every time we brought in GAIII, we gave him the ball, and the defenses noticed.

 

We really need to line him up at the slot and actually throw him the ball a time or two a game and sell the fact that we may actually use him in other ways, or that he may just be a fit in our offense.

 

I see him growing into a Rocket-like role. Line up at WR in the first half and then when the defense is starting to get gassed, put him in at RB in the late 3rd and 4th quarters and finish them off with his speed.

Bingo. This is what I would like to see. I also expected more of this stuff from the get-go. Hopefully it is a stepping stone to a little expansion on the offensive side of the ball.

I for one do not like the east & west running attack. I wish we'd line up under center more and pound the ball with power blocking schemes. Then PA power TE pop or w/e the hell they call it.
