Starting QB a game time decision now

Recommended Posts

Unknown right now why but BK is stepping back and saying EG may not start for BYU (concussion related) and Hendrix is also in the mix to start per Kelly just now.

Eric Hanson says EG did not seem like his regular self in practice so BK may not start EG. Not set in concrete but it's going to be a gametime decision.

Not the best news but thanks for the update. While BYUs pass rush is pretty highly touted, I feel like our O-line is up to the challenge regardless of who is under center. I feel good about whoever starts. Maybe not so much with Drew, but I won't be drinking bleach either way.

I may be in the minority here, but I do see a small ray of light in this news. If Rees starts, he has a better grasp of defensive schematics and may be able to read blitzes more effectively. He may give us a better chance to audible plays at the line based on coverage schemes and pick BYU's secondary apart with the passing game. If the o-line can give him time to sit back there and bombard the BYU secondary, he may actually do quite well.

If Hendrix plays, we are going to turn the ball over at least 3 times. This has been working; start Golson and bring in Rees if the offense is stalling.

While I absolutely agree that the formula so far this year has been working, I don't agree that EG should start/play. If he's still feeling effects of the concussion, it'll take one hit to cause further possibly permanent damage to a kid that has his whole life ahead of him.

So, I say sit him for this game and start Tommy and give Hendrix some garbage time.

GO IRISH!!

I really expect to see Hendrix at some point and hope the read option is effective. This is supposed to be a good defense. Maybe we can ride that offensive line and our backs.

I think Hendrix has unfairly been givena bad rap based off one game. He had an awful game this season, but it seems like everyone forgot that he was a pretty solid QB last year. I think he should get another shot....
