Looks awful. I'm only @ 6 min left in 2nd quarter so far.

WTF. He's thrown 3 no hitters on Chase Thomas that resulted in HUGE negative plays including the strip sack fumble TD in the endzone.

I'm not so sure a blocking TE is his calling...

I LOLled. And I'm not in a very good mood watching this game on DVR.

He has been excellent this year. He just had a horrible game yesterday. Thomas will be playing on Sundays and Niklas saw big boy talent across from him dor the first time.

He should not have been 1 on 1 with him after it was apparent he was getting abused.

Not trying to be argumentative here, but are you talking about blocking or pass catching?

My thread was meant to call out his blocking at the point of attack. It seems he has big man syndrome. He needs some footwork and technique help in a bad way. Coach has called him out about this as well so It's not just me here..

I've seen him catch some balls and he has soft hands for such a big man... I just don't feel comfortable having him blocking the edge with an especially trigger shy QB who likes to escape the pocket a bit premature..

I think his blocking has been fantastic blocking this year. He could not handle Thomas yesterday and after the third turnstile he should not have been asked to.

He's young and Thomas is a senior. He dipped his head a few times and Thomas exposed him. We also saw him kick out a Miami player and control him across a pile last week. He's a work in progress but boy am I glad he's at ND and not USC

Yeah, he certainly has a lot of room to grow in pass blocking. He's already pretty good in run blocking though. Asking him to control Chase Thomas on Saturday was a bit excessive to ask for, though. It seemed like a few times he just barely chipped Thomas on a block, thinking that maybe the play was going elsewhere quicker?

Niklas is an excellent blocker when he is moving downfield-he's so big its hard to stop that train. It seems like when he is forced to sit an wait to pick someone up he struggles-almost seems off balance. Considering he just switched to TE this year I'm sure he will be fine.

His play on Saturday was unbelievable. I for one have to say that I was shocked how bad he was beaten ALL DAY! I know that he is still developing into the position and all, but I swear, he wasnt even a small imposition to their rush.

That experience can only help him in the future. I doubt he sees anybody like that #44 again this year, unles he has to block Clowney in the bowl game. Hope #44 tears up Oregon.

LOL, best post I have read today. Niklas was clearly reading the DD forums and getting high on the love, forgot to bring his game cleats. Looked like he was playing in flip flops out there.

Yah. I was guilty of praising him as well.

There were many times I dont even think he felt the breeze of Thomas running past him.

Troy is great in downfield run blocking, obviously his pass blocking is lacking in technique, unfortunately with Welch being injured Troy is the next guy in for that situation. He'll get better when his technique catches up to his strength.

No guilt there, he has looked pretty good all season. He just got blown out by a superior talent. Blocking as a TE is not easy, you take a guy who is prototypically 6'4 to 6'6 with a great vertical leap and put him against someone of similar size who has a running start and a lot of speed.

I think he is worthy of praise, just not a good outing Saturday. I think if you take away his whiff on the sack and fumble in the end zone, this thread goes away. Just gotta make blocks on those visible plays. Irresponsible playcalling (IMO), I know you want to spread the field but he should have had Theo or Cierre back there to protect his blindside.

I agree with some of the other posters on here... Niklas had done pretty well against Purdue, MSU, scUM, and Miami, but he just fell apart against Stanford, reminded me of the terrible Navy game he had when it came to blocking.

Tall order for Troy going against a talent like that to begin with...couple in the fact that he was split out most of the time and there's less margin for error.

Had he been inline he may have been able to push Thomas inside and get some help from the tackle but he was on his own most of the day. It was basically an Oklahoma Drill and Thomas got the better of him a couple of times...

I hope Troy can take that as a learning experience and apply the "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice....and....well you just can't get fooled twice."

I do not want to see Chase Thomas ever again. He is a monster and I don't even like the way he looks. What a headache he was/is.

Can someone edit this post to include some ridiculously cool David Caruso line ala CSI: Miami? Then we can bust into the Who.
