Not that it really matters because the season is still young, but that's garbage. I guess strength of schedule doesn't matter worth a doo doo to the BCS. Oh well, we win out we are in.

Means the jury's still out in the pollsters minds

Can't blame em, we've been out of it for so long and shat the bed in previous spotlight opportunities that they are still gunshy, just like most of the fanbase was before the game

They also said we are #2 in the computer portion

Proud to see ND on that top 5 tonight. Real progress is being made, undeniable!!

This guy just said we need to start Rees, if we continue to start Everett we won't go undefeated..

And if Alabama and Oregon both run the table, we'd be on the outside looking in...

Agreed. Wanted to be #4 in the bcs but can live with 5. Really like the computer love though.

It's not what most of us want to hear but all three agreed that our schedule is looking less and less vicious with each weekend. If UM wins out, and we beat USC and OU without them dropping any other games, plus either Oregon or Bama stubs their toe, then you can make a serious case for ND playing in the NC game. But, if Oregon *AND* Bama win out? Forget it, everyone else is playing for 3rd, that's just the reality of it.

And if Alabama and Oregon both run the table, we'd be on the outside looking in...

I'm very curious to see what would happen if ND was undefeated with these two at the end. I think Bama would be in for sure and it would be between us and the ducks, usually these things have a way of working themselves out and that is looking waaaaaay ahead but i wonder who would make it?

Alabama-- ok

BUt Oregon? Hell no. What have they done? Jack. They've played Tenn Tech, Arkansas St., Fresno St., and Washington State. What a worldbeater!

We hanged 50 on Navy and I think Navy could hang 50 on those teams. I heard some people say "Bububu... Look what Oregon did before! The last couple years!"

Yeah, what did they do? Lost to Boise St x2, lost to LSU x2, Lost to Auburn, Lost to Ohio State, Barely beat Wisconsin. Wow? Impressive?

Notre Dame plays Stanford and USC, too, which would be Oregon's best two wins. If we got left out after running the table, we should cancel all our games next year besides USC and Stanford and call up the Tennessee Techs of the world...

In order for Oregon to finish undefeated - which is the caveat we're all talking about - they'll most likely have to beat USC twice. That's a tall task for any team, IMO.

What you heard there was alot of worried people convincing themselves that if we won out ( GOD FORBID) we still have NO CHANCE to play for a title---That my friends in my circle we refer to as DENIAL__:-)!

With one breath they go on drooling over the SEC one lost teams and Oklahoma as a one loss team and how they still have good chances and with the other breath they rationalize a NO LOSS ND TEAM has no chance.

PATHETIC---

They also would like to add to that---Our schedule is weak---We can't win without switching to REES---Even if we do win it won't matter----

They made a point to wait 15 minutes before launching into an ND,s NOT A FACTOR RANT___AND MADE A POINT TO PROMOTE THAT THEY SAVED US FOR A SPECIAL SPOT ON TE SHOW TO SHARE THESE CHARMING OPINIONS!

I doubt we go undefeated going to norman and winning will be tough , but i am very sure if we did manage to beat Oklahoma & USC on the road---we will not be left out!

aloha's

Have found the college football always have these October problems of too many undefeated disappearing before I sit down for my Thanksgiving Turkey dinner ;)

What would be hugely interesting to see is if KSU and Florida lose next week, moving ND up to #3 and if Oregon and Alabama both lost the following week with ND beating Oklahoma and Bama falling to LSU...who would be #1 then?

An unbeaten ND that has beaten Michigan, MSU, Miami, Stanford, BYU, and Oklahoma or would their bullsh!t SEC loving get the best of them and a 1 loss LSU would leapfrog an undefeated Notre Dame? Oregon doesn't even have to lose. Let's say it's for the second spot.

I'd firebomb BCS HQ if that happened.

It is way to early to bitch about BCS standings; there's a lot of fall to play. It feels amazing to be in the discussion though . If the Irish go into Norman and win, ND will sway some voters.

In the long march back to glory, ND has found itself ranked near the top of the pack a number of times. Each time, the team has come back down to earth with a thud. This ranking means so very little to me. I care about the product on the field and that we continue to scratch and claw each and every Saturday. If the team focuses on that, the rankings will take care of themselves.

As Herbie said, these rankings don't matter at all right now. As long as ND wins, they'll get to a BCS game.
