Boy how time flies. It seems like just yesterday we were making predictions for this game, can't believe it's been almost a year since we played Stanford.

Β

I'm sure many of you have hardly even thought about Stanford, much less thought about what the score might be, so to recap:

Β

Big front 7.

Good against the run.

Susceptible to the big play.

Young QB.

Good TE's.

Β

Armed with that information, let's see some predictions for this game!

Β

I'll go with 20-6 ND.

Β

On a completely unrelated side note, I'm so glad Catholics don't believe in superstition. I mean really, can you imagine having to wear the same jersey, sit in the same spot, eat the same food and hold the same "lucky charm" every week just so ND can win. Really, how tedious would that get after awhile? Jeez, ND is clearly going to win or lose on their own merit on the field every week right? Right?

Β

(Yeah, I saw we don't take any chances either) :spy:

I think we win 28 - 10.

Β

What scares me: their tight ends averaging something like 20 ypc; their defense is 4th in the nation in tfl and 20th in sacks.

Β

What encourages me: their QB is bad under pressure; we were competitive against them last year when Andrew Luck was QB, how can we not be this year too? In that respect, this game reminds me a lot of this year's MSU game.

Β

I hope our D-line gets some serious pressure on the QB, though, because otherwise it could get tough.

Big test for OL, how good are they in the run game.

Big test for LBs in pass coverage. How much have they improved?

Β

On both of these I say the improvements are real, and we dominate.

Coming off of my 34-17 prediction for the Miami game, I must admit to feeling a wee bit cocky. Even many of our most optimistic posters showed some timidity, fearing an onslaught of Miami speed and, I guess, believing that Miami's defense was suddenly going to become good.

Β

So, with newfound confidence in my prognostication skills, I decided to open up this week's ... bids... wait... just ignore that part.

24-10, Notre Dame

Β

Eventually, a team has to score a touchdown against our D, right? Stanford lost Luck, but I'm thinking they'll still have a little of it on Saturday. Either an ND turnover or a missed assignment or slip, some sort of big play, will allow a pretty good offense to get into the end zone.

Β

After that one TD, no more. San Jose held Stanford to 20 points, and, yes, that was their new QB's first game; but, more recently, Washington held them to 13 points. Our D can do at least that well.

Β

As for Stanford's D, give them credit for holding Barkley, Lee, et al to 14 points. They also gave up 13 to Duke, 17 to both Washington and San Jose, and last week Arizona put 48 on them in regulation. No doubt we can score half that much.

This game has me scared, I don't like all this media attention. With that being said I think we win 24-23 on a last minute field goal. Hopefully its not that close.

It feels like Deja Vu...I could've sworn I had a prediction for this game but can't be...right?? Anyhow, Stanford seems to rise to the level of its competition, see 4 straight over SC not too mention us, but feel this is our time/our year. ND 27-20but hard fought into the 4th quarter. Would love to see the ENTIRE stadium up and rocking, not just the students! Mssrs. Ushers: Please let the fans yell a little and cheer, cheer on Notre Dame! GO IRISH!

Wait...are you telling me I can shave my beard that I have been growing since 2 weeks before the navy game?

In my pessimistic view of 2012 before the season kicked off, this game was definitely one of the 5 losses I was so sure we would have.....Oh how things change.

Β

ND - 27

Trees - 13

I think the no TD streak continues. Pressure on the QB, shut down the running game and keep the receivers in check. Can't rely on the cold weather as a 12th man on the field, as it's not going to be as chilly as it was in Chicago. Secondary has a great game and we'll see something much like Miami.

Β

38-9.

I think we trail for the first time this season to start the game...Diaco and the DEF adjust, and we roll through the rest of the game. They score late to make it look closer.
