I also think we dont match up well against Clemson and USC but I think it would be a coin toss

 

That's much better than years past where we lose to Navy, Syracuse, etc.

 

What do you guys think....I really really want to make the BCS this year not just because its the goal we've been setting at the beginning of the season each year since Kelly began, but I want ND to Prove they belong with the best teams in the country....how do we really match up against the "big dogs" like South Carolina, Alabama, and Oregon??

Oregon would no doubt be tough. Any of the teams listed would be, but this Irish team is all heart and plays for each other. That's something that's underrated. And I think we have a ton of talent on both sides of the ball. This team will get better and better as the season goes on. They just can't get ahead of themselves.

Oregon's offense against our Defense would be fun to watch though. If you think about it, we do have a fighting chance considering they are a running team with passes mixed in. Our weakness is the passing game on Defense, our strength is against the run... Oregon's defense would be interesting to see how good they actually are.

 

I think Oregon would beat us, but it would be a close game and they wont score 30+ points on us.

 

If S. Carolina plays like they did tonight, they would beat us, but that is the best game they played all year!

 

Alabama is well... Alabama.

Oregon would be by far the worst matchup for us, they have SO much speed. and once they jump on you, the boot is on the throat the whole game. I would much rather play alabama then oregon. We match up well against Alabama and Lsu, not saying we would win but we can stop the run and thats all they have. I think we could hang with anyone minus oregon

We'd kick the SHIT out of South Carolina and Florida. Get out of here with that SEC BS. South Carolina is going to move up to #3 and going to drop three games later this year.

 

Georgia is always a fraudulent team. I want SC or UF in a bowl game SO BAD.

have great defensive schemes and have front sevens that are as good as ours...but they also have strong play in their secondaries.....All except LSU and Mississippi State have dangerous weapons on offense...although you could argue that Tyler Wilson looks good and Beckham Jr. is a play maker

 

I am an absolute believer that the SEC has unjust glory...However these teams would all be highly competitive games and Im not sure which team would come out on top.....THIS IS WHY WE HAVE TO GET TO THE BCS...I HAVE TO KNOW....I live in MEMPHIS I have to shut these SEC Fans up

I watch a lot of football, too. ND would beat Mississippi State and South Carolina. They would lose to Alabama most definitely. LSU is scary defensively but play Pop Warner football offensively. Florida? Yawn. We'd beat them.

 

And yes, I know Florida just beat LSU. I don't care. Our defense is SEC-caliber, and none of those teams have the ability to attack the weakeness in our secondary.

 

The SEC is supremely top-heavy. Those fans like to blow themselves about how great they are, but if not for Bama, they're the Pac-12.

South Carolina loses to LSU, Clemson, and the SEC Championship.

 

LSU loses to Bama.

 

Mississippi State loses to Bama and LSU.

 

If ND handles their shit, they'll be looking at a LOT of good options.

That's really it. I know that West Virginia would put up points against Notre Dame, but not as many as they usually do and their defense is absolutely terrible. Florida, South Carolina, LSU — all EXTREMELY beatable.

 

I do love the crap out of Kansas State and Optimus Klein, though. Those dudes are really fun to watch.

If ND comes out thinking like fans and playing like its 2011 again (ie. - turning it over with gusto) then anyone of the teams we still have on the schedule could ruin this season as surely as Stanford ruined a couple of Lou's better seasons...

 

The next game is the most important one and 3 weeks ago everyone was crapping their shorts just THINKING about Stanford...now they're an after thought? I hope the team is getting slapped back to reality on Monday AM and stays focused or this could turn into the greatest team to ever win the Pinstripe Bowl....

 

(btw...I was pretty much over the moon during the game too...LOL....I sooooo wanted a couple more garbage scores to get the score up to 54-3...not exactly 58-7, but an ass kicking of Faustian proportions none-the-less...I hope Pig-Faced Satan and Coke-head Irvin enjoyed the show...I'm pretty sure that Portis and James bailed from the stadium at the half...)
