We typically only wear it one game per season...

It's the Stanford game this year. Rumblings of hot pink rally towels sponsored by the Kelly Cares Foundation.

October is also Respect Life Month.

Can a Catholic university, aka Notre Dame, show awareness of how precious life is -- especially in the womb and that abortion takes a life?

Hey all, somewhat ironic that it's breast cancer awareness month. But my mom just found a bump on her chest and finds out in the morning whether it's cancerous or not. Can you all say a prayer for her tonight?

My mom did as well, cancer free for 7 years! I'll say one for every person out there who is forced to battle cancer, it is not a fun nor fair process for anyone.

No. I like football Saturdays just the way they are without bringing that mess to the table.

I am probably going to hell but I got a good chuckle out of the DD comment in the breast awareness thread...lol....boy...I need to grow up...lol...

Prayers up! Wish her the best!

"Bringing that mess to the table" that's how you describe the taking of innocent life in the womb? You're one sick dude and certainly not a true son of Our Lady's University!

No, he's just saying that if ND were to throw *any* religiously-charged stance out on national TV, the outcome would be disastrous, to say the least. Like it or not, the issue at hand has legal precedent and campaigning for *OR* against it on national TV would result in a media shitstorm that would make the Ty Willingham fiasco seem like a walk in the park. It is great that you stand up for your beliefs, but for the University to use their stature and position in such a manner to advocate for or against anything of the sort is not a smart move. That's how I see it at least.

Any update on this???

Hey rocketsan,

She went in today and the diagnosis points to having early stages of breast cancer, however she has now been referred to a specialist which she is seeing on Thursday. So I'll keep you guys updated.

I really appreciate, your prayers and thoughts! I know I don't post to much on DD (even though I think I check it every ten minutes lol), but I want to thank you guys for the support and just remembering- says alot about your guys character.

Their "status" is as the leading Catholic university in America and they should not be afraid to state their beliefs in the public square.

Notre Dame Stadium on a fall Saturday is not the right place to do it.

The University's position on this has been well documented in the "public square" and there is no need to blur the lines between football and all else religious and political.

I feel I've derailed this thread enough. If there is one thing we can all agree on, it is that BrIrish needs our thoughts and support more than anything, as does anyone who is - or has a family member - suffering from breast cancer. I lost a high school friend at the age of 31 to this disease and hope we make progress soon to defeat it.
