He doesn't do anything that Rees doesn't do better,. He doesn't scramble and is actually more hesitant to run then Rees. He tiptoes in the backfield like a Rb who doesn't understand the ZBS. He rolls out prettier then Rees does, but throws lazy and stupid passes when outside of the pocket.

He has a stronger arm, but why does it matter when he doesnt even know the plays? WTF is he even doing out there?

Are these the first four football games you've ever watched?

Come on dude if you cant see the difference between Golson and Rees I don't know what to tell you.

I just hope Golson and Rees can win games for us this year and by win, I mean not lose.

Given what I've seen so far I hope Gunner steps in next year and lives up to the hype. Golson is slightly more mobile than Tommy but not enough. He's too short and thin.

Does anyone have any patience anymore?

I mean like, honestly?

We've had first-round NFL picks who people here wanted to run out of South Bend before their first seasons were over and never once had the savvy to recognize they were developing and progressing and improving.

I'm not trying to be a jerk but man, sit back and enjoy the process. If your're expecting them to just unleash EG before he is ready you are in for disappointment.

We're trying to build a QB here not kill one.

I'm just afraid that Golson will progress to good, not great and meanwhile, maybe the next Andrew Luck is sitting the pine pony behind him just going to waste...

Unreal. I'm all for forcing a test that has to be passed before you can post. Garbage - hot garbage, all up in this joint.

You know I wasn't going to post. Sometimes folks just need to realize how stupid they sound sometimes. How can you compare The 2. Ridiculous to waste the effort. Have a great day everyone. Cause I am sure it was ruined after opening this thred.

I thought this was a joke thread at first.. But you're serious which makes me regret clicking on it because the premise is lame.

Tommy`s Mom?

I actually like the current setup we have. Golson knows he will be starting. He needs the reps and the confidence.

However, if he fails we have a old vet ready to step in and change the pace of the game. That is difficult to depend and a grea safety net

Golson doesn't scramble, like at all. He just tip-toes around until he gets tackled. He rifles it in two feet behind receivers. He overthrows his go-receivers by 20 feet.

He looks absolutely devastated when he gets pulled. What do you guys see in this guy? I guarantee he wont be our starter next year,

OK, not enough to just call this dumb.

He doesn't scramble.

Go watch the TD scramble against Sparty.

and is actually more hesitant to run then Rees.

And then go watch it again. Golson is a pass-first QB. Rees is a pass-only QB. That's the difference. (OK, shout out to TR for the TD last week)

He tiptoes in the backfield like a Rb who doesn't understand the ZBS.

All your base are belong to us. Seriously, no idea what the above even means.

He rolls out prettier then Rees does

Sure.

but throws lazy and stupid passes when outside of the pocket

I will spot you the second pick last week. But I would submit that Golson is at his best, on the run, outside the pocket, throwing *lasers*. At least one example per game. But maybe you are talking about when he prudently throws the ball away when nothing is there. Then, yeah, the throws the ball away in lazy fashion.

He has a stronger arm

That's two true statements...

but why does it matter when he doesnt even know the plays?

OK, I will buy that he is not able to diagnose defenses or even make LOS audibles. But no idea what you have seen that suggests he doesn't know the plays. Anyway, it matters, because he will be able to eventually expand the playbook.

WTF is he even doing out there?

He is starting at QB for your favorite team, dude.

On several occasions, Golson has done a great job of scrambling to either keep the play alive or score. He does seem to have a problem stepping up into the pocket, and when he is brought down for a sack, it's usually because he inexplicably tries to circle around a solid pocket.

He's entitled to an opinion. Golson didn't have his best game last week, but he is way more talented then Tommy. He takes care of the ball much better. He buys time with his feet. He throws better down field. He has been a bit handcuffed by Kelly on the option read. I think against Miami he has a big game and we won't be having these discussions.
