im so fed up with the offensive player bias. as of right now i'd say that manti is one of the most outstanding players in the country right now. but if you really want to make him a contender give him the ball a couple times in goalline situations.

i have been thinking that he is a heisman contender since the mich st game. if he keeps playing like this, and i think he will, he has to be one of the top 2-3 players in the nation.

 

he leads one of the top defenses and is a dynamic player. i dont know who would be ahead of him right now. no one else is standing out but him

The guy doing the Heisman Watch on Sportscenter this morning puts him at number 3 in the top 5 list.

 

Side note, I haven't gotten Sports Illustrated in 20 years or so.....how long have they been doing regional covers? I never knew about that.

Great to hear. He is extremely deserving of the SI cover and the Heisman talk also. He perfectly embodies a Notre Dame man on and off the field.

According to a Chris Fowler tweet, he is going to get a feature on Gameday in the next few weeks as well.

 

A defensive player has been top 10 is Heisman voting the last 8 or 9 years. If no one runs away with it, getting to NY would be as good as winning it.

I feel like Manti will have to put 6 points up on the board in some fashion to have a realistic shot at winning this. (fumble 6, pick 6, blocked kick returned for 6, safety)
