Just read an article on rivals that said ND is going to get an official visit from him. He is the younger brother USC WR Steve Smith. He's listed as the number 8 athlete on rivals. Does anyone know where our staff she's him lining up on the field?

running back i believe

i thought it might be LB.

this doesnt pertain to his position but a couple of things to remember

he is friend with Jimmy Clausen

and his dad is an ND fan, i remember when steve was being recruited he really wanted him to pick ND, location was the deciding factor i believe so he went to USC

this kid should be a sleeper on our radar, im assuming he will be here for michigan like every other kid in america...you can bank on JC being here for that game, watch out for his interest in ND to pick up

I'm starting to see a pattern here regarding the Michigan game and official visits. Winning that game would go a long way on the recruiting front....

Ya, there is a lot riding on that game....our season and the recruitment of many of our top guys. Hopefully Michigan is undefeated going into that game.

I think if ND camt land Donald or Dailey then Smith will probably get an offer. I just dont see it going that far, I think it'll be Chris Donald when all is done. It'll be hard for him not to commit after being on campus with his parents this month.

They are looking at Smith solely as a LB.

IMO smith will eventually end up at USC.

interesting, i wonder who gets offered first smith or dailey

chris donald looks unlikely at this point...that means one of those two will likely get offered, unless they think Smith will be the 4th lb

my guess is that it would be dailey. well if ND lands wilson (i bet they do) then that gives ND three LBs and losing donald maynot be that big of a deal, but i'd still hurt.

its not a blow because he isnt really in our camp, has anyone really been banking on donald? I hope not, hes been a long shot for awhile, Tenn. seems to have him locked down. I hope he picks us when hes up here but i would be suprised at this point

Despite the current self-imposed moratorium on recruiting, Smith will again start thinking about it again after the game. In fact, next weekend, he’ll take his first official visit.

“I’ve got a trip to Notre Dame set up next week when they play Michigan,” said Smith. “It’s the only one I’ve got officially set. I was going to visit Penn State in October but I am not going there until after my season.”

Could Malcolm be a silent ??? Maybe Donald is still high on UT after all, and Smith will be our substitute at LB. Whats the odds of us getting Smith???

i wonder if malcom smith is still high on PSU after their beat down last week.

Yea, I don't think anyone is high on UPS after that smackdown. All the blue chippers they offered (Benn, Austin, Barksdale, Ragone, Kamara, 'Tez, G. Little, Hughes, Tyrod Taylor) could care less about them. Finally there isn't kids like D. Williams and J. King buying into that crap they feed their recruits (By the way, great showing by those overrated players on Saturday  ). I mean lets be honest, who would want to play for someone thats old enough to be your great grandfather and who doesn't even wear a head set :p .

If it wasn't for their head recruiter, Larry Johnson Sr. taking all the top talent from Maryland last year, they wouldn't have had a good class.

I know that Sukay stated he grew up a PSU fan but I find it odd that he was turned off by being recruited as a safety, yet PSU has a lot of young depth at WR and PSU told him he could WR :?: :?: :?: Something is fishy about that.

I'm glad Shane Hale was in attendace to watch that spanking. He will surely never forget that while he's deciding on what college he ends up choosing.

media and recruites all seem to think that just because JoPa has won all those games that it makes him a great coach. yeah ok it does take a good coach to win that many games but lets be honest PSU hasn't been a factor in college football since the end of the '99 season.

Honestly, gotta give them a heads up for winning a BCS bowl last year and being a play away from an undefeated season. Not sure what you mean about not being a factor since '99.

Williams and King were 5 star recruits in the class of '05. PSU was 26-30 from 2000-2004. Need I say more??

Nope, was replying to Danger's comment saying PSU hasn't been a factor since 99.

a bcs game in one year does not make you a factor

they never really had a shot at the title game, even if they went unbeaten they needed USC or Texas to lose which didnt happen

IMO that was one fluke year, PSU is not a top ten program anymore, top 25 yes, but its not someone who will be a factor year in and year out for the national title
