Per his conversation with Scout.com, it really sounds like he is leaning towards the Irish. I, for one, would be ecstatic to land him. I mean, how badly do we need a big (200 lb.) and physical D-back who also happens to be track star fast? Not to mention landing arguably the top three prospects in the state of Indiana (Aldridge, Schmidt, Brown).

He would be a great pick up. We definitely need him, that's for sure. If we got him, and then one out of Mays and Walls, we would have a great start to our future DB.

Agreed. I can't begin to describe how blown away I am with all the incredible athletes giving ND serious consideration this year. I guess that's a sad statement really, that recruiting has dropped off that badly the past couple of years. Can't wait to see that final list of names or the rankings with the Irish sitting squarely on top.

I don't see any reason why we can't get Walls, Brown and Mays. With the Gug almost complete and with defensive back coach Bill Lewis who has ties to the NFL, and a chance to play early who would not want to be a DB at Notre Dame.

It would be awesome to land Brown especially because he was a life long michigan fan and favored them heavily until he took his visit to ND

Well my personal opinion is that Walls and Mays will commit to ND. With this article it sounds more than 50/50 that Brown will commit to the Irish. If McNeil comes to ND, which appears very possible, that would be an incredible DB class.

Personally, I'm not holding my breath for Mays. Being that he is one of the most sought after recruits in the nation, I think he'll take his time. If he does choose the Irish, I'll probably go through the roof. Even if he doesn't, a class with Walls, McNeil, and Brown would be more than I ever could have hoped for. Hmm.........weren't the critics doubting CW's ability to recruit with no prior experience as a college head coach?

I agree. I really don't think Mays is going to land with the Irish. I have a real good feeling about Steve Brown and Darrin Walls. Add them to Raeshon McNeil and possibly John Maddox at safety and that is a stellar defensive backfield. Also, watch out for Robert Williams. He has ND and Ohio State as his top two, but OSU hasn't offered (and aren't giving much indication that they will) so there is a strong possibilty we land him also.

I don't know much about Williams. Have we offered?

The Irish haven't offered, but it seems he's one of the next. I am curious why the Irish haven't offered Phillip Strozier. Supposedly he's ranked ahead of Paddy Mullen and Munir Prince in the Missouri rankings, but he still hasn't been offered. Also, I read that if he was offered he would commit on the spot because the Irish are a clearcut #1. I guess Charlie Weis knows what he's doing. Another random point. After Raeshon McNeil's visit to Va Tech, the Irish still lead. He's a virtual lock to commit before August.

My guess would be that he already has offers out on players ranked higher nationally. I'm sure Strozier is on the radar, should some of these guys commit elsewhere. That's great news about McNeil, but as with all recruits, I'll definitely breathe a sigh of relief on signing day when all the names are on the dotted line. It'd be nice to know the character of every recruit to ease the anxiety. :?
