die4irish 0
Lets hear what you think Coach will use against Sparty that we have not see yet? My guess is he will run a more up tempo offense and try to limit the defensive substitutions by Sparty. Get the defense winded and they might not be as aggressive. Could coach be crazy like a fox and purposely let the play clock run down on every play against Purdue to surprise State? Maybe even throw in a little option to make the defensive line chase more and get tired?
Kingwillball 0
More 2 Back sets in SHotgun with Riddick and Wood lines up on each side of QB. Also maybe more Bubble Screens and things like that.
FaithInIrish Forever 5,568
I wanna see spread speed triple option with Cierre on the dive and Riddick or Neal on the pitch but i doubt that, most likely is a deep shot to Brown, as Kelly does not like to run the QB. Irish_Thunder 197
I want to fake that pitch play and have Golson take off the other way. Also getting Neal the ball in space. Maybe a goodman to Golson pass. Sporty always try's that crap on us.
corysold 0
I don't care if we see any wrinkles, but I do want to see the whole offense. Start playing aggressive and taking the fight to the defense. We haven't seen any delayed draws that worked well last year. There was only one go route vs. Purdue, I don't recall any screens. Open up the playbook and let the players make plays.
97domer 89
I don't expect to see too many wrinkles in the offense. I think Golson is still learning the offense and Kelly is not prepared to add too much. I would love to see more up-tempo, but again, I'm not confident that Golson is ready to move at that pace. I'm guessing we'll see Golson rolling out a bit more often with a little more of a moving pocket-approach. I do expect MSU to take the same approach a Purdue and load up the box. Hopefully C Wood will make a difference in our running game. If I'm being honest with myself, I think our running game is largely dependant on our O-line improving from last week. I also know that our chance of winning is going to be greatly increased with an effective running game. It should be fun to watch. I'll be at an Irish Festival in Michigan with the game up on a big screen. Last year it was evenly divided between MSU and ND fans; a real fun atmosphere to watch the game. Go Irish
Scotty88 0
Wrinkle? He brings a lawn chair, relaxes and sips lemonade while using only one qb. j/k Formations with multiple backs, Freshman receiver will have a coming of age, pretty sure Daniels will have a big game. GA3 was quiet last week..can't be two in a row. Get creative with GA3, get him some space. Solid test for Golson on the road, it can be done...let the man do it coach! I'm not convinced that we'll see GA3, but I hope so. I think MSU is going to load the box and, with Cierre coming back, it's just going to be more difficult to get him the touches. If we have early success with the run, then maybe?

I agree though. The up tempo approach would do well especially given the environment, their defense, and what we have already shown them. marcwithglasses 0
eg5 needs to roll out more and have a less predictable mix of plays... stop forcing it to eifert. get toma the ball. get riddick and wood in open field.
IrishCalves 0
Its not much, but it was a staple not too long ago - that draw play where it looks like the QB is going to roll out. Was super effective for us the last two years, and I don't think that it has been collecting dust in 2012 is a coincidence either.

This is what I was thinking, this play was super effective last year. With EG as a more mobile option it's only going to get Defenses flowing harder

I think if MSU plays tight bump 'n run, which I think they will, I want to take shots downfield with Brown, Daniels, et al. We have make teams pay for stacking the box... Saw a little bit of that on the ball to Daniels against Purdue. We bunched up, they loaded up the box, and Golson beat 'em over the top. We'll see how Daniels' ankle looks, but Brown will be one to watch in that regard. That he has participated but hasn't seen any snaps within the offense so far has me thinking... Can't wait to see it in 2012. Just one more, Glad to see you man! Almost started a thread to that effect!
SDIrishFan 607
How about a screen play to the RB? Just one, please? We've got to keep their defensive front thinking and slow them down some.
