PJacksonsDred15
What are the chances we see Tommy Rees play this weekend? I think pretty high. At some point, I think Kelly will want to throw him in to see what he can do. He did beat Sparty last year, granted he wasn't all that impressive in that game. Golson has his ups and downs in there, and it may not be a bad idea to give different looks with these guys. I know, I cant believe I am actually saying this. nd1baby
Well, at least if we do, it won't give me the heart attack it did last week. I'm ready for it.
Irish4life
I was thinking about this earlier and I agree. I believe at some point in the game Kelly puts Rees in to see what he can do because I expect Golson to struggle some (would be surprised if he didnt against that team and environment). Not saying Rees will do better or anything like that, I just believe Kelly will call on him.

irish21
Golson only struggled moving the ball after Davaris Daniels and Tyler Eifert were both sidelined with injuries. The fumble was an egregious one, he did a pretty good job considering the pressure he was under. He would be a lot better with Eifert, Daniels, Riddick, and Nicklas as his throwing options. nremdn
http://i.imgur.com/0nqZY.gif My thoughts exactly. If we see Rees at all on Saturday then we have a legitimate quarterback issue on our hands. The standard coaches statement usually stands true, if you have two quarterbacks you have none..... Kelly's 2 minute project worked last week, so it is hard to really bash it, but I don't see it working much more. Rees looked so inferior to Golson physically it was pathetic. He went Denard Robinson arm punt two minute drill, but with much less arm strength. Win or lose, Golson's ceiling is miles above Rees. I stand by Rees for being a great teammate and giving us a quarterback for two years when we had nothing, but it is time to move forward. piratey
When you have two quarterbacks, you have none. This is why Tommy Rees coming into the game last week was absurd. You're ok with splitting snaps with a QB with no discernible talents other than some notion of him being "gutsy" or some other 80's teen movie cliche. But then again, "Tommy-San" does no wrong. Why not just bench Golson, he can't run a team by himself anyway, let's just go with Tommy. Because obviously we can't win without Tommy and his 1.5 to 1, TD to Turnover ratio, his lack of mobility, he noodle for an arm, his suspect accuracy, his terrible decision making, his untimely turnovers and his release that's so fast, it prevents all sacks. http://i.imgur.com/LDxXU.png http://i.imgur.com/L0jdO.png

Don't you think that would work? Golson did jack and shit in the forth (other than try to give the game away with bad mechanics.) Why bitch about Rees coming in COLD and winning? I want the best man on the field. 99% of the time, that's going to be Golson. In the rare occasion that we wasted all our time outs (with 11 minutes to go) and need to score, I want the who's been there and PROVEN he can make it happen. Once Golson gets more comfortable, I doubt it'll be an issue. For now, we have someone who can come in COLD and win a game for us.

nremdn
My wife called it a Ben Turk Arm Punt ...but he can bench press a truck. LOL The novelty of his bench pressing ability wore out after a couple of seasons of 30 yard punts. Someone needs to tell him they also have leg stations in the workout room. He attempted 4 passes, scrambled out of 2 sacks and was actually sacked twice, one of which was a fumble. Rewatch the 4th bro. Tommy comes in, arm punts the ball to Goodman with triple zeroes on the playclock, sales some other passes and completes a 9yd pass Toma turns into 21. Tommy had the benefit of Purdue in a prevent as well. Edited September 11, 2012 by piratey

NDNorm
They were talking about this on Coll FB Live today, and Mr. Hersbstreit thought if it's the same situation at the end of the game this Saturday, we'll see the same exact thing happen again. I really hope we don't even need to worry about it, a la last year, but man, I don't know. I wish those SOB's didn't have payback on their minds from the Irish beat down they received last year. Tommy had the benefit of Purdue in a prevent as well. He fumbled with the ball in the wrong hand, and had time to get rid of the ball on the sacks. I don't need to rewatch the 4th.
