Herring Bone 0
Thanks to those of you that have been tuning into the podcasts recently. I'm having a blast doing them. This week had regulars Matt Mulvey & John Walters along with Michigan State blogger Hondo Carpenter of SpartanNation.com Online version or iTunes Notes: Mulvey was critical of Golson on a few plays but overall thought he played well. Worth listening for his thoughts on why Rees was brought in. John Walters, by the way separate interview, agreed with the move as well for similar reasons and called the situation a "non-troversey" Speaking with Hondo Carpenter was a trip. He claimed to have watched ND-NAVY 11 times and ND-Purdue 3 times and it was 7pm EST Sunday. He's predicting a blowout and made a few exaggerated statements about the MSU corners and LeVeon Bell. I asked him how he expects Kelly to attack the Spartan defense and he essentially said ND won't be able to move the ball and that current QB Andrew Maxwell is a superstar that would have supplanted Kirk Cousins if he had ever been injured ... as in Cousins wouldn't have been able to get his job back. I've cut up the Kelly sound on Rees/Golson and his awesome locker speech is in there too. Go.Irish.
dangeruss 6
i don't think it'll be a blow out but another one of ND-MSU famous slug fests. i do think that ND may have some trouble moving the ball against msu. i expect msu to stack the box and bring all sorts of pressure and force a young golson to beat them. i think ND will try to do what they did last year and thats stop the run and then stop the run some more, diaco will make stopping the run his #1 priority. darvaris daniels, tj jones, riddick, nicklas and toma are going to need to step up big time, we just can't rely on eifert to carry the passing game. this game will be a dog fight but a game ND can win no doubt. corysold 0
I don't know how much Mulvey knows about QB's, but if 21-31 for 289 with 2 TD's and 1 turnover is a B- grade for Golson, he is going to be really, really good.
Domer Dude 0
Need to stretch the field. Keep the CB and Safeties back. MSU's DL is not as quick as Purdue's. Make them say - thank you, may I have another until they learn their lesson.
nd1baby 0
I think both Kelly and Dantonio are saving something for this game. We will see new looks on offense.
corysold 0
If Laveon Bell is 250 with 4% body fat and runs sub 4.4 as that blogger suggests, he needs to be suspended for PED's, as that is physically impossible otherwise.

Well Mulvey knows more about QBs than all of us combined but he's grading things we can't even identify. He's constantly noting how he squares his shoulders and hips and noticing how Golson has improved in just handing off the ball on run plays. I think B- is fair when taking in the game as a whole. Golson wasn't in a great rhythm, something Mulvey kind of blamed on the coaches, at the end of the game and mentally just didn't seem fit to finish the 4th quarter. You toss in a fumble when leading by 7 and less than 4 minutes to go in the game and I think it's a fair grade.
cameroncrazy 0
"What MSU is gonna do is take your two best receivers and put them in single man coverage and leave 9 men in the box" Please please leave Eifert and Daniels in single coverage see how well that works

Hondo certainly embraced some stretching of the truth there, maybe it's his schtick. I mean ... he watched ND-NAVY 11 times?!? haha I see where he's coming from in some regards trying to talk a little smack so it's all good. Maybe he watched the condensed version on YouTube of both the NAvy and Purdue game....I've watched them each 5 times...Every play without the filler

Not if he's 6'8" because that is what Lebron James measurements are.

Ha, Lebron, I hope this is your sarcasm coming out again, otherwise, he needs to be suspended for PED's as well. They aren't, I promise you. Lebron is probably closer to 9-10% body fat, maybe 12%. 4% body fat is nearly unheard of, even for pro-level body builders. Most of them get to around 6% for competition. And every really big bodybuilder, Mr. Olympia style, you see is on steroids. This guy is maybe close to 4%, and he wouldn't pass a NCAA drug test, and Lebron looks nothing like him and I know Laveon Bell doesn't. http://i43.tinypic.com/fp2is0.jpg

He's strong though. The key is, he's slow. I don't think he has 40+ yard run speed. But he has the power to take big chunks at a time. TheGipperSB 0
Didnt Terrell Owens have 3-4% bodyfat?
cameroncrazy 0
Didnt Terrell Owens have 3-4% bodyfat? No way if you're playing football it's absolutely dumb to be anything under 8% and even that's probably not the smartest idea.
corysold 0
Didnt Terrell Owens have 3-4% bodyfat? Not if he was alive. Body fat % is like 40 times, you always have to add some to get to the truth.
