We could probably say the same regarding your DomerDomain career, but I digress.

I'm assuming you watched the game and saw they threw two balls to WR downfield and even those weren't truly downfield passes.

Absolutely. And the kid was wide open in the end zone one time. Even if the kid doesn't catch one ball this year, I will still think he has the ability to help this team win. People need to be patient with kids.

talking about potential playmakers in the same breath as proven commodities is what it is. don't tell me the guy is a player till he's a player. what are we talking about "practice?" what happened to 'give credit where credit is due'? when he makes plays / has the impact that his good name has already credited him with, it's deserved, until then he's on the roster. it's like when fans get wrapped up in recruiting rankings and how good a guy "must" be. you can hope and dream all you want, but we'll see what pans out.

we will see. i'm not saying much of anything other than i can not see why i keep seeing his name attached to why nd is impressive. i'm sure you think i'm not saying much of anything, period.

Well once you find me some proven commodities at WR, we can stop talking about the kid who dominated fall camp.

Garbage thread.

No, I'm just a proven poster that's all.

You might be great, but until you prove it, you are just an unknown poster trying to make a name for yourself, much like the WR you mentioned.

The vast majority of people here at DD were excited about his potential, not calling him a "sure thing." Same goes for Golson, McDaniel, and the whole squad even after the success we had in this our first game of the season. It is fun to look at the positives and project a little bit as long as it does not lead to unrealistic expectations.

When we come back after the first game and show frustration and disappointment over a freshman because he did not catch a pass, then we are doing exactly what we should not be doing as fans: weighing down our team with our own unreasonable demands.

Saying that an athlete is very gifted or very fast -- those are observations that we can safely make. Saying that a freshman receiver should get a touch in a game where our running backs dominated -- that does not do anybody any good.

Are we to be disappointed because Neal did not take a punt to the house or break one of the reverses for a big gain? Should we have been disappointed when Golden Tate did not make a catch in this debut game against Georgia Tech in '07?

I, for one, had no expectations that any particular receiver, with the exception maybe of Eifert, was going to catch a pass in this game.

And let's face it, even those players who have all the potential in the world, they still have to master the mental aspect of the game, jump over the academic and personal life hurdles, and avoid injuries.
