2lakes
From the SBT, for weekend 8/30 - 9/1: http://articles.southbendtribune.com/2012-08-31/sports/33527424_1_wr-corey-robinson-matuska-san-antonio-christian A couple highlights (Zaire's are on another thread): '13 WR James Onwualu -- Cretin-Derham Hall 34, East Ridge 24. Stats for Onwualu: 246 all-purpose yards with 152 on offense. Onwualu caught a 45-yard TD catch and returned an interception for a 94-yard TD. '13 LB Jaylon Smith -- Fort Wayne Bishop Luers 31, FW South Side 6. Smith scored two TDs on offense with 102 rushing yards on 12 carries. Smith also tallied two tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one pass deflection. '14 WR Justin Brent -- Speedway 54, Beech Grove 21. Brent caught four passes for 114 yards and 2 TDs. '13 DE Isaac Rochell -- Eagle's Landing Christian Academy 32, Briarwood Christian 7. A broken hand for Rochell dampened the ELCA victory. Rochell told the Tribune that he'll likely miss 3-4 weeks. '13 RB Jamel James -- Katy Cinco Ranch 34, Houston Cypress Ranch 6. James injured his knee in the first half and left the game on crutches at halftime, but not before recording a two-touchdown performance in the first quarter. James tallied 97 yards on offense with a 40-yard TD run and a 43-yard TD catch. On Saturday, James told the Tribune that his knee is fine and that the injury isn't too serious but has an MRI scheduled for Monday.
OKCIrish99
This is going to be a class. Justin Brent is going to be a beast and Onwuala had great numbers also. Think Kelly has a knack for seeing good talent and then pulling the trigger. Everyone knows how good Jaylon Smith is.
NDhoosier
they probably only threw it Jaylon's way once Justin Brent seems to be getting national powerhouse attention, should be a good one!

Think Kelly has a knack for seeing good talent and then pulling the trigger. Everyone knows how good Jaylon Smith is. Yeah, I should have pointed out that, contrary to the thread title, Brent is only a Junior. He is 17 months away from faxing in his LOI. There are a lot of coaches from other teams who are going to be in his ear between now and then. In fact, there was another article about the interest he has suddenly received from other schools. Brent received an offer from Louisville on Tuesday and has recently heard from USC, Oregon, Tennessee, California, Arkansas, Washington and Minnesota. http://www.southbendtribune.com/sports/notredame/sbt-notre-dame-football-recruiting-brent-piling-up-tds-20120904,0,3838767.story Edited September 5, 2012 by 2lakes
OKCIrish99
Yeah forgot Justin Brent is only a junior. I like the fact that other schools are contacting him as it shows he's got talent/skills. I don't like it though if he listens. Don't think he will as this kid has seemed all Irish. At least, he better be.

Per Retweetes for the Twitterless (my monthly plug for your thread, 2Lakes) his repsonse was a "thanks but no thanks" and grateful that the coaches took them time to call him and for the interest they have in him. Given that he's an Indiana kid, I'm not as worried as I would be if he were a FL or Cali kid.

Wonder what the staff would do if he ended at 6'8"? Probably make him a massive te. Niklas is 6'7" and Coby Fleener is 6'8". Robinson could be in the same mold, at least height wise. Not to be an a-hole but Fleener is 6'6". Niklas is already bigger and taller. He's a monster. Robinson would have to be locked into a room and forced to eat his way out to put on that kind of weight. It will be interesting to see where he ends up height-wise.
2lakes
Sept 7 games: http://www.southbendtribune.com/sports/notredame/football/sbt-notre-dame-football-recruiting-schedules-for-irish-commitments-9798-20120907,0,7392399.story A few choice performances: * ’13 WR James Onwualu – Cretin-Derham Hall 16, Mounds View 17. Onwualu scored two touchdowns in the loss, on runs of 19 and 4 yards. A missed PAT in the fourth quarter left CDH down by one. * ’13 DE Jacob Matuska – Columbus Bishop Hartley 50, East Knox 7. Matuska caught two passes from his tight end position for 35 yards, one a 25-yard TD. He had six tackles on defense. * ’13 OL Steve Elmer – Midland 7, Saginaw Heritage 0. Midland is now 3-0 to start the season. * ’14 WR Justin Brent – Speedway 10, Cardinal Ritter 7. Game was postponed on Friday night with 1:48 left in the first quarter. Brent had already hauled in 94-yard touchdown catch. The game is set to resume at 1 p.m. EDT. * ’13 WR Will Fuller – Philadelphia Roman Catholic 20, Downingtown East 42. Fuller caught four passes for 86 yards with a 59-yard TD in the loss. * ’13 OL John Montelus – Everett 29, Leominster 6. * ’13 WR Corey Robinson – San Antonio Christian 32, Navarro 34. Robinson provided a lot of the spark for the SA Christian team that fell just short. Robinson hauled in nine catches for 151 yards and 4 TDs plus a two-point conversion catch. Very off night for our recruits: 1. At least 6 of our guys' teams lost 2. At least 4 of our guys sat out the game with injuries: Randolph, Rochell, Heuerman, and James 3. 5 guys playing today 4. Not a lot to read about our great OL, since those stats are pretty rare 5. Smith's Bishop Luers team lost again: I think they are 1-3 now? Not a good year for that team
OKCIrish99
Justin Brent is going to be a stud. Putting up great numbers every week. Love getting these talented juniors already on board.
2lakes
Nice link and a few hilights: http://www.irishsportsdaily.com/recruiting/notre-dame-football-recruiting/7790-nd-recruit-round-up Zaire had a monster night going 11-for-17 passing for 209 yards and three touchdowns, He also rushed six times for 132 yards with two touchdown runs of 40 and 77 yards. He was pulled early in the second quarter…..WOW!! Onuwalu only played one half because of Cretin-Derham’s big lead. He would finish the night with nine carries for 86 yards and two touchdowns and had five tackles on defense also. The San Antonio Christian Lions (2-2) put the whole package together and crushed the Holy Cross Knights (1-3), 46-14. Robinson sat out of this game because of an undisclosed injury.
