Irish9 0
This morn he said the Irish were the most surprising team over the weekend. He talked about how well Kelly utilized Ga3 and he did a great job with the offense. He likes Notre Dame alot. Good to have that performance after the beating the media gave them last week. piratey 6
Most experts thought it'd be a 30something-high teens/20 affair. They didn't see the rushing game, pass rush and rush d dominating.
corysold 0
Hmm. I wasn't surprised at all. Actually closer than I guessed. Nice to see ND in a positive light after week 1 vs. last year though, that is for sure.
NDhoosier 1,336
I like Jesse Palmer, when we start winning games, he will be the first of the "college experts" to join the pro-ND bandwagon led by Lou Holtz. Mark May is leading the anti-ND bandwagon, he will never join.

Anyone catch his little comment that the late TD was an unnecessary cheap shot against the academy. He's a joke, he's the first to call us out if we dont win by enough points i know its a shtick but still hes beyond agitating.

Did he notice our Oline and QB and Manti were out of the game?

hawaiiirish 62
Palmer used to be one of those guys thinking ND would be good---but he gave up on us last year , i guess after too much disappointment. I heard his pre-season assessments for us and it was not very sage---he went on about REES gone--on about Floyd gone--on about the schedule---I am not surprised he was surprised--- he did not expect much & hanging out with those ESPN buddies of his didn't help our cause-- --palmer would be happy to see us do well though i believe. aloha's
2lakes 4
Anyone catch his little comment that the late TD was an unnecessary cheap shot against the academy. He's a joke, he's the first to call us out if we dont win by enough points i know its a shtick but still hes beyond agitating. That's crazy talk. I looked back at SI's play-by-play: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/ncaa/gameflash/2012/09/01/49661/index.html#playbyplay Hendrix came in with 3:00 left in the 3rd quarter. On that last drive, Hendrix threw a 9 yard pass to DaVaris. On 2nd and 11 from the ND 44, he threw a 23 yarder to Koyack. Otherwise it was all runs. Despite what some people are claiming, ND did not call a TO on that last drive. We got up to the line of scrimmage quickly a couple times, but on the second-to-last play we ran 0:51 off the clock. If Toma did not score from 9 yards out on a run up the middle with the second stringers in on that play, the game was probably over. Hendrix needed more meaningful snaps, especially considering that he did not do well on his first couple drives. This was his second successful drive. Mayday just wanted people to forget that he predicted a Navy upset. That was stupid, so he compounds it by saying something even more stupid. I will say, however, that the handshake between Coach Kelly and Navy's HC Ken Niumatalolo was noteworthy in its brevity and lack of warmth. And it seemed to me that it was Coach Kelly who slid by, so I would not be surprised to hear that there is some bad blood between the coaches, maybe even going back to that 2010 shellacking. corysold 0
I certainly think Kelly wanted to let Ken know that the days of Navy beating ND are over for a while. I did find the May comment amusing. When you know it is his M.O., it is easier to take. Funny though that he didn't mention Ok. St. throwing for TD's up 63-0 and then 70-0 (in the 4th quarter), plus scoring with just over a minute left to win 84-0. That is far worse than what ND did

Yea...we put in all of our 2nd stringers by I think a third of the way through the 3rd quarter; and some 3rd stringers as well...I mean, Roby Toma isn't even on the RB depth chart. We need as many live reps as possible... I didn't hear him say anything when OSU put up 92 points on the hapless FCS school they faced...Or calling out USC for keeping in their 1st stringers in halfway through the 4th
OklahomaIrish 0
I remember several years ago Palmer was anti Notre Dame. He said he had a brother that was a big Notre Dame fan. I t seems that he started being friendly towards us last year. Mark May is either stupid or just a Notre Dame hater. In 05 he said we would be 0 and 6. We should have been 6 and 0 if you remember what the refs did to us against Michigan State. We never have really had our day against Mark May. Maybe it is time. Maybe we beat them by 50. (Pitt) Mark May's job is to be the anti-Lou when it comes to Notre Dame. I really doubt he thought Navy would beat ND, but that is his job. Lou gives him plenty of flak about Pitt as well. NDBadaBing 0
we are going to surprise a lot of people this year. We were literally self-inflicted wounds away from being 10-2 last year. And only one team really handled us, and that was Stanford with a QB who is a day one NFL starter leading the way. We were inside the five ready to tie USC in the third quarter when we shot ourselves in the foot in that game.
Irish9 0
We should have won eleven. Blew it against Michigan, South Florida and Rees lost the game against Fl State with that pathetic performance.
OklahomaIrish 0
I know Mark May is the anti Notre Dame person, but it comes naturally. He doesn't have to work at it!
Donjuan 16
It's funny that some of you continue to take Mark May seriously. He's a really good friend of Lou Holtz and has hosted several former ND players in his golf tournament. He actually DOES like ND contrary to his weekend musings yet fans continue to form their opinions on what schtick is said on gamedays. I hate to see how some of you gather your 'facts' when determining a president. Bet CNN and Fox Friends is your template...
NDhoosier 1,336
lol, I am pretty sure when it comes to many things regarding Holtz and Mark May, a lot of it is just entertainment.
