corysold
Seeing multiple reports that Blake Countess is out for the year. That can only help matters a few weeks from now.
piratey
Taylor Lewan, their left tackle, was also injured. CBS said Lewan was the most important player on their roster. I'll tell you that he's the only BCS quality linemen on their roster that isn't 18 years old. Rich Rod left the lines bare. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/storylist/19746565/22/2012-college-football-team-previews/michigan
toddrhodes
I hope the kids are going to be alright and are not hurt seriously. I also tend to dislike that these kinds of things provide built-in excuses for down the road but hey, whatever. If we do what we are capable of and beat the skunkbears soundly, I won't be complaining. They'll have Fitzy back for our game at least... Denard took some bigtime hits last Saturday as well. He does not have a future on defense, that's for sure.
piratey
Let's see how well Michigan bounces back against Air Force and the triple option. I wouldn't be surprised if it's still a game in the 3rd quarter. The middle of their dline is ripe to get abused by a fullback, their tackle/nose play is epic levels of bad

I'm still amazed at how little it seems the "analysts" actually look into the teams. Air Force did rush for almost 500 yards last week, so they will certainly test the Michigan lines. He has made no progression throwing the football.
jfschellcrna
this is the problem when you come outta the gates and play a really physical team in the first game......the lingering side effects are far reaching, especially if you are thin at certain positions.......i know USC looks great now, but they will be vulnerable down the road if the injury bug bites....... Not a good sign for UM if they are already banged up.
corysold
Are you predicting an Air Force upset? Upset alert I'll say. Air Force moved the ball ok vs. ND last year and our Dline is way ahead of Mich. Big loss, a few injuries, don't play that style offense much. I think it will be closer than the line of 20. I think Air Force will be able to score but I dont see how they are going to contain Denard's legs enough to make it a true upset alert. However, if Air Force can limit Denard's damage, they definitely have a shot. I also think our secondary has a good shot at standing up to Michigan. We will probably play a pretty safe kind of coverage this year, not allowing big plays down field and keeping the play in front of us. With that in mind, while Denard might have some open receivers underneath, he may not have the accuracy to get the ball to them.
AtLeastMySisWasIrish
Freep has confirmed Countess has an ACL tear but they didn't have anything on Lewan who is clearly their best Olineman. Feel bad for Countess, seems like a good kid who was recruited by us. If Lewan is out for anytime, could be a bigger advantage because of our front 7 talent. scUM have too much talent and coming back to the Big House to lose to Air Force but going to be a lot closer than it should after the way scUM got beat up by 'Bama. Don't forget Robinson came away with a pretty tender shoulder too...
OklahomaIrish
Giving it up to Piratey for doing the research and being spot on!! Everything is going our way for a change. Now let's develop our secondary some more against Purdue, stay injury free and see if Hendrix can do a better job mopping up.
JTennant
You heard it here. UM will drop at least 4 more games. Bama laid out a blueprint on how to contain Denard Robinson. Granted not many teams have the skill that Bama does, but I'm sure there will be certain things each team will be able to take from their scheme. NDhoosier
^ Agreed, they will lose to ND, Michigan State, O$U, and Nebraska 7-5 for the season
moostache
I think scUM is due for the kind of humiliating 0-2 start we have suffered in the past and a season long struggle after that. That was a manhandling on Saturday night and when you are down 31-0 in any game, you have clearly got issues that can be exploited massively. Our lines are the strength of this team and the weakness of theirs...their QB is a horrible thrower (who btw used up six lifetimes worth of lucky throws and luckier results against us last year) and does not have WR help to take advantage of our secondary. If we can avoid turnovers and control the lines like we should, it should be a long day for the Skunkbears... I thought that we would beat scUM before the season started, but I now consider anything less than a 2 TD margin this year a defeat. Our aspiration is to play with the Alabama's of the world and not their cannon fodder...
