ndomer4
Was I the only one who replayed his touchdown return and just sat in shock about how a guy that big could run that fast? He played phenomenal, I can say he made me forget about lynch pretty much. Always disrupting plays and in the backfield. That's the kind of player schools like Alabama and the sec schools have that we couldn't get before. I was impressed we looked like one of the better teams, and Navy is no 1-aa scrub or even a bad 1-a team. Impressive win over a good team. rocket31
Safe to say, Stephon just got the attention of some NFL scouts. oh hes been getting plenty of attention...currently ranked #4 out of all D-ends in his class. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/players.php?genpos=DE&draftyear=2015&sortorder=tsxpos&order=ASC im not sure he will ever pass clowney, because he is unreal; although he did look out of shape in week 1 and took off a lot of plays vs vandy... Good scouts notice players who are not conditioned and playing to potential... I think character evaluations are becoming a larger part of draft positioning. I think Stephon is the complete package, and I think he'll be the top DE of his class when all is said and done.

I was freakin out with his speed. Just ask OKCIrish. This man deserves all the accolades. He will be a force. He is better at this stage then Lynch was last year, by far. Won't it be great to develop Springman and Jarron Jones. They aren't in this category but the redshirting of these big 6' 6'' studs can only help. Springman looked pretty good, but won't make many tackles from the nose until he becomes a physical freak. What if Chris Zorich had the body of Springman?? irishrb
Consider me impressed. My boys were laughing hysterically as he took that to the house. They too, were shocked that he was able to get down the field like that. By far the best moment of the game for us.
BlackIrish42
FWIW, Friday at the gym, I told the ND-loving gym manager "watch out for Tuitt, he's gonna have a breakout year." So far, so good! Btw, I will eat my shorts if he's not a first rd. pick... Oh, and if ya didn't see it in the other thread, OklaIrish, well done on yr "half a hundred" prediction for this game! That's the kind if thing I'm thrilled to be wrong about... Edited September 3, 2012 by BlackIrish42
IrishOrDie
I love me some Stephon Tuitt. Loving that nasty streak. Has all the potential to be an absolute PHENOM. This may be premature, but after Te'o leaves I can kind of see him being the man on defense. He seems like a smart, mature kid and he's a stud of a player. I'm loving it. I recall when our best defenders (relative term) were the safeties...didn't work out so well. It transitioned to LB, mainly because of Manti...bit better, think 2010. These next couple years will belong to the Dlinemen, especially 2013. If the bulk of tackles and leadership are up there, you know you are doing something right. Can't say I don't LOVE the LB pipeline coming on, though.
chirodomer
You have to admit that The whole D-Line looked a lot bigger than they did in the spring game and they played ridiculously physical! I think we got lucky that we didn't get more facemask penalties yesterday Bc our guys were trying to tear heads off!

My son loved the fact that #20 for Navy was taking twice as many strides as Tuitt but was not really gaining on him.

I agree with you and you're surely right about Navy, they are a group of prideful young men who play with more passion every week than most teams. I want to temporarily hijack your thread to say Aaron Lynch is an incredible pass rusher who plays for South Florida; however, he had a lot of work to do stopping the run. He was so aggressive attacking qb's, teams often times ran right at (and by) him last year. Tuitt will never be the pass rusher Lynch has the potential to be, but, overall, Tuitt has the potential to be a more complete player. He also has the right attitude and mindset. Best of luck to Aaron Lynch playing for our great coach's sons, Skip. But please, lets not let Lynch's or Tuitt's legacy be an incessant comparison. Tuitt summed up the situation yesterday far better than any sports writer anywhere has to date. Read this quote and keep it in mind next time we want to bring his name up: "I don't really want to talk about Aaron," Tuitt said. "Aaron is a great player. You saw the things he can do. But during the spring, I just worked on the stuff I had to work on, what I had to get better at for my team to get better. I just did my job." http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/chi-notre-dame-notes-freak-de-tuitt-rumbles-to-forefront-20120901,0,3354274.story?track=rss It's going to be a great season. Go Irish! corysold
Tuitt is a physical monster and he is just a sophomore. Like BlackIrish said, he has 1st round written all over him. Now what ND needs is two or three guys like him, that is the difference between good teams and great teams.
