BI5224 0
I agree to an extent. We can't have an ND with the reputation of the U, or Fla St., etc. A few kids that walk a fine line isn't going to hurt. That's the main reason I liked Lynch. He has an edge, an attitude that no one else on the team plays with, noticeably at least.

VCDomer 75
How about a stud D Lineman who doesn't mind delivering an xtra shot at the end of a play and take the unecessary roughness penalty once in awhile. Wait... didnt we used to have one? How did that turn out again?

We can not sacrifice the name or mission of Notre Dame our mother, but we need to have guys tough enough to defend her honor well, but never to disgrace her glory and light
Scotty88 0
Not sure I agree, you can be a class act off the field and a warrior on it...think Manti. From an outsiders view, it looks like we're building chemistry during recruiting, on the field and not in holding cells. I get what he meant, maybe would've reworded to "guys with a mean streak" and not "criminals".
TheGipperSB 0
Kinda surprised by some of the things he said, but hey, at least he's being honest and not just giving the "politically correct" answers. The guy definitely has some moxie.
Pregame 291
It was either Lou Holtz or Joe Moore who said that you need a few kids who grew up with no mailbox. I totally agree, you need a few guys from a shitty situation who just want to go out there and rip someone's head off. Not to mention, going to a place like ND would really be beneficial for the kid as well.

FaithInIrish Forever 5,570
great point phony, see the poem at the bottom of the Statue of Liberty for further evidence, it the mission of America as well, Thats what makes Notre Dame Americas team for its fans. We all need that Fighting Spirit.

I think especially on defense you need a few of those guys with that attitude in order to be successful. The whole team feeds off that energy. Jamoris and the front 7 will produce a lot of energy for these young guys to feed off, Jackson is already there, and I think Russel will fit in perfectly. Now i'm getting all excited , why can't it just be Saturday already
nremdn 34
I don't see a thing wrong with what he said. I think he's right on cue to be honest. The team as a whole just needs a more killer instinct. When is the last time they have really jumped on a team and didn't let up? Mean teams succeed in football, just a fact of the game. A few 15 yard penalties are worth putting that doubt into the other team. That is the part about good old #19 that I will miss most. That guy was an animal, had no concern for anything but smashing someone (with or without the football). Other, more timid players, tend to feed off the "bad citizens" as well. jessemoore97 1,478
I agree with the premise. I think he meant that ND needed not so much a criminal element, but the "Bad" element as in "that dude is one bad motherf***er." I'm sure we can all agree we do not want out and out criminals on the roster who go out and steal, sell drugs on the corners, fire off guns at people, etc. I hardly consider kids getting picked off at a college party for drinking a criminal element, or one who smokes weed once in awhile and drops bad on a UA. Those guys are hardly bad ass. I prefer guys who are tough as nails and everyone knows it. Lynch was not that tough, liked to think he was, but when he got his ass kicked in practice during a scuffle his true P-whipped self shown through. Give me guys like Chris Zorich, Aaron Taylor, Jeff Faine, Michael Stonebreaker, and many others who are escaping me right now. They were tough, no nonsense players who kicked ass and didn't back down from anyone.
4thand1 303
Maybe I am missing the whole point of this. What I take from this is that there is no way a representative of ND (announcer) should never publicly say that. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You don't say it publicly.
