Posted July 14, 200618 yr Smith a 6'2 197 WR from VA was recently offered by ND. Old news. His top 7 is Clemson, Miami, NC State, ND, Tennessee, Virginia, VaTech. He said Miami has a slight lead on the other 6.
July 14, 200618 yr with benn and little mostlikely coming to ND you can pretty much cross jay smith off the list.
July 14, 200618 yr Author with benn and little mostlikely coming to ND you can pretty much cross jay smith off the list. either way, Charlie recently offered the guy.
July 14, 200618 yr I read that Jay was the top performer at the Durham combine a while back. His stats leave much to be desired, but apparently he is a incredible athlete. I think Weis would take a 4th receiver in a heart beat if he is a difference maker. Sounds like he could be down the road. In short, it sounds like this guy is getting a wealth of attention from schools based on his potential. His stats aren't worth much, but they really think he can blossom this year. IMO, Weis is gonna take a 4th receiver even if it is not Deonte Thompson which is what everyone is hoping for (including me).
July 14, 200618 yr Author He could easily take a 4th WR, for multiple reasons. One is that the 4th WR could be more of an athlete. Also, Greg Little would be the third WR and many consider him to be a safety, RB or even LB. So if he is moved from the WR position than we still have 3 WR commits.
July 14, 200618 yr U sounds like ur going to land him, Shannon is an impressive recruiter all these kids love him, Thompson and Smith at wideout that would be impressive
July 14, 200618 yr Yeah, Shannon can recruit with the best of em. I think AT THE MOMENT we look ok for Smith and Thompson, but TD, i'm sure you know how quickly things can change in the recruiting world. Nothing's for sure. That's why i take such info with a grain of salt.
July 14, 200618 yr sorry forever but i dont see it, there was a recent article i believe on rivals about him, and he talks about liking schools where he can play from day one not schools where he may win a NC but will be down the depth chart he said no schools like USC or Tenn. where he might win a championship but will sit, he said he likes tex. tech and ok state because he knows he can play and showcase himself day 1 i believe he wont be irish, sorry
July 15, 200618 yr I agree that four WR are not out of the question if one of the big names, DT, Hemmingway, Barnes (given grades), Brooks, or Smith, wants to come on board. It makes sense because almost all those guys as well as Little could also compete to start as freshman at another position. Plus, if all four commit it would allow CW to move some of last years WR to other positions. I still think that Gallup best shat at significant playing time is as a CB. I think West also has the potential to be moved to CB.
July 18, 200618 yr BGI has an article that Jay Smith has narrowed his list to 7, does anyone kno if ND made this list.
July 18, 200618 yr BGI has an article that Jay Smith has narrowed his list to 7, does anyone kno if ND made this list. Clemson, Miami, NC State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Virginia and Virginia Tech (In no particular order). However, he announces Miami as his leader. He also said his has family that live near Miami and they would really like to go to there.
July 18, 200618 yr It's pretty hard to determine how many guys at each position we are taking this year since there are so many versatile players out there that we have offered. Little, Brooks, Williams, Barnes, Edwards, Harrison Smith, Tez...and probably a few others that just didn't pop into my mind.
July 19, 200618 yr He has an Official set up for the Michigan game.... Sounds like a big game recruiting wise.
July 19, 200618 yr Mighigan game...Jay Smith, Ron Brooks, Michael Williams, RoJo, Gary Gray...am I missing anyone? That is a HUGE weekend
July 19, 200618 yr this is going to be a huge recruiting weekend, hopefully we'll score more than 17 points. http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/1589790901.01._SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V1115526597_.jpg
