D'Angelo McCray is a DT/DE prospect from Jacksonville Florida. He commited to Florida early but is now looking around. It appears as if he really is looking hard at ND. The new staff at ND is making a big time push to get some great prospects from the sunshine state and McCray appears to be high on their list. He is a 5-star DT and ranked as the #3 DT in the country.

He is Marvin Austin "lite" in terms of attitude. He is not a domer and should stick with his CUM (Coach Urban Meyer) commitment. Be a man and follow through with your aggregious mistake, "The" Angelo McCray! Nuff said!

By all accounts he is a very personable person. I never met him though.

Vagas, in all honesty I will have to say that is too harsh. Give the kid a break. I would not like it if a kid commits to us and looks around. but they have that right. As does the university have the right to yank the offer if they don't like it. I think most on here like that we have Munir Prince. He decommitted from Iowa to come here. I don't necessarily like the decommitting possibility but that is the choices they have.

I would prefer if footbal was like basketball and had to signing dates. Early and normal.

Understood, broke. And respect your opinion. And I don't so much mind that he committed early as I do his attitude and that he fell for CUM's BS. I think a great gage of who is ND and who is not is based on who believes CUM's rhetoric and who does not. There isn't a coach I despise more and I feel very strongly that UF will be on probabtion within the next 4 years because of the guy. We all have no idea how lucky we got that he chose UF over us.

So once again, I say stay at UF my friend McCray. We have better DEs and much better TEs in our frame of reference.

He won't play DE or TE imo. I see him as a DT/OT. Word is that he would be a stellar OT if he were to play that position.

I also don't know why you hate Meyer. I wouldn't classify myself as a Gator fan, but I do think that Meyer is a class act. HS Coaches down there really respect him.

Have you met the guy or followed his story, Sunshine? My guess is no based on your comments.

When it comes to Meyer, I don't like him. Can't say I hate him but not a big fan. But I can't see not wanting a 17 year old kid just because he bought into what UM was selling. These are 17 year old kids. they are impressionable, whether they are ND kids or not. It's not like you can dislike Raeshon McNeil because he took a visit to UF after he committed to ND. Whatever the reason, he still did. That doesn't make him bad.

Just saying, don't dislike a kid because he bought into UM. They should be judged as individuals. Now I'll stop, sounds like I'm starting to preach.

Sunshine is right IMO, I see mcCray as a DT prospect.

I can't opionate one way or another on charater issues. I do hear from that Jacksonville Lady and priest he most likely is Irish. this comes from priest to the Lady friend both based in Jacksonville so is second hand to me. As I roughly understand it there was some issues involving Florida that turned the fam/kid off (Charater wise on FLa part also)

Everyone makes mistakes, fortunately he can correct it and be Irish. I'm not a big UM fan either, seems a little sketchy to me, but remember whatever success he has will have Irish roots......If we got our #1 choice to replace TY we wouldn't have gotten the #1 guy, thanks Urban!

I met UM several times when he was a coach at Notre Dame and always thought he was a great guy. My wife used to manage a resteraunt where he and the other coaches would bring recruits and she thought he was very nice.

Also, I have not heard anything about his past two schools having any recruiting issues. I know he was a good recruiter at ND. I do not like his choice with UF, but I'm glad he did chose that way. Since getting the job at UF, I think everything has gone to his head.

this would be Huge! McCray is going to be a stud

Sir John, I didn't know that he would commit to ND. That would be huge news for you guys. I believe you need good DT prospects, correct?

Sunshine yes DT's. All I can say is there is someting wrong with the other place which would put Irish back up. I myself do not like commits that de-commit but we have taken them. I said 'second-hand' as it did not come from the source. I really cannot end run around the lady and ask the priest...Or I would :) Could be used chewing gum for all I know.

Again second hand and not from the New Jersy horses mouth like priviously. I shoudda stayed out of this one but it was there.

Sometime I'll do pennance for calling a New Jersey Priest a horses mouth.

So there is something going on in Florida that led to McCray looking towards ND? That would be interesting. Was it something with Florida and McCray or something with Florida in general? Maybe a few other kids like Rainey and Torrey Davis de-commit and look towards ND?

I believe you need good DT prospects, correct?

understatement.

Personally, I have not heard anything recently on McCray.

This is a very interesting development. Especially since Austin's starting to slide away and it's beginning to look like Barksdale is looking at OSU.

I noticed he's only listed as a Soft Verbal on rivals. Let's hope we can get him. I'd be very happy with Blackwell, McCray and possibly Trattou as DTs.

Be very careful with hoping to get Blackwell. He is from a VERY pro LSU area and high school. LA kids always seem to mess around before eveuntually ending up at LSU.

Sunshine you may have hit on the head man.McCray and other kids in the the sunshine state get all the Fla schools thrown in there face.So maybe he was pressured so much he went and chose UF.IMO I would take him if he decided to leave. And if he fills uncomfortable about something at UF maybe the kid has some Morals.Sounds like a ND kid to me.

Well it doesn't sound like he will be a Gator, at least not right now. It will be intersting to see which way he goes if he does drop UF from his list.

I'm all for showing love to "The" D'Angelo McCray.

For all we know... after McCray committed to UF, ND / Weis might have stepped up the recruitment for him.

Perhaps what ND said resonated, and he saw UF differently.

Do we judge Charlie negatively for pursuing recruits after a committment (Prince anyone?)?

If not, should we judge D'Angelo for reconsidering his committment to UM?

Anyway... we don't know why D'A McCray is reconsidering... we don't even really know him. But if Charlie wants him, I do too!
