this was a bit of a puzzle--he seemed to have high interest awhile back but nothing materialized but other secondary commits---it looked like perhaps we were cooling or slow playing this TALENTED recruit.

 

That does not seem to be the case---According to 247 ND still has Yuri Wright on the TOP of their list----and according to the latest article from TROJAN RECRUITING---they say " Yuri is unlikely to be a Trojan---that according to Yuri --Notre Dame is the team to beat and the place where THEY EXPECT HIM TO END UP!

 

They also "rave" about his skill and predict his size will push him to safety over CB

 

Looks like we are still the likely destination for MR WRIGHT as things play out!

Pretty encouraging stuff..they also mention he has great size and talent and is going to be a difference maker..likely at safety.

looks like ND is going to load up on DBs this year. this would be an awsome get for ND, great size, ball skills and great cover skills, great to have that type of versitility with him in the secondary. also you got to love the idea of turning big corners into safties.

Landing a kid with Yuri's talent would sure raise the water level of our current safety verbals.

I agree with you, but Nicky Baratti is going to be a stud. Kid has good film from his soph yr where played a lil' bit of safety and CJ Prosise is just a gifted athlete.

Maybe, but I wonder if the staff doesn't see the writing on the wall that Baratti may jump ship to play QB somewhere. I know the staff said they would give him a look, but I doubt he'd beat out Hendrix or Golson.

 

Wright would be the 5th DB, with Smith still in the mix as well as Shumante (?). If 5 is the plan, there needs to be some attrition somewhere.

Why the Zibby comparison? Watching Baratti's limited film, they dont strike me as super similar players

Odd you compare him to Zibby. Zibby was recruited as a qb to Nebraska, but he wanted to play safety. He and his dad knew his best bet to make the pros was as a safety. This kid seems to want to play qb. Zibby's dad needs to have a talk with him.

Opposing wide receivers running behind our safeties has been a Saturday tradition for 10 + years.

Blasting Zibby = a phenomenal amount of stupidity.
