May 31, 201114 yr Just read this on twitter.... We all knew OSU was dirty now it is all coming out. My favorite quote from the article. "In the morning he would read the Bible with another coach. Then, in the afternoon, he would go out and cheat kids who had probably saved up money from mowing lawns to buy those raffle tickets. That's Jim Tressel" - a quote about rigging a raffle contest so the elite recruits would win prizes at his camp.
May 31, 201114 yr I was hoping for something a little more damming than that story. I don't know if I'd compare this to what SMU did in the 80s.
May 31, 201114 yr I was hoping for something a little more damming than that story. I don't know if I'd compare this to what SMU did in the 80s. It's not SMU level, but it is way worse than 'SC based on the number of individuals involved. 'SC was basically just Bush and Mayo... This just in, Brady Hoke was streaking through the streets of Ann Arbor in joyus celebration about the news out of Columbus..

May 31, 201114 yr This article was a bit of letdown for me... I was hoping for some more blood than that. OSU will still get theirs but SI made a big hoopla for this? Wake me up when it's all over
May 31, 201114 yr SMU was sickening! I doubt anything would ever or will ever be able to top that. This is not the bombshell it promised to be. Good luck trying to prove any of it or get it confirmed from anyone directly involved. I thought it was going to be much worse than this. The only real damage this could do is taint the players listed that are still on scholarship there. Notre Dame personally recruited alot of those kids. Mike Adams,Simon, and Sabino easily come to mind. I dont think you can say any program is entirely clean anymore.
May 31, 201114 yr I was hoping for something a little more damming than that story. I don't know if I'd compare this to what SMU did in the 80s. What did you expect? Murder? I'd say it's about as damning as anything short of So far it's just been an investigative reporter... There are allegations are of players being given free cars and being able to consistently swap them, summer jobs that paid them thousands of dollars to do nothing, tats/weed for memorabilia, boosters taking them to mma fights/concerts, and the allegations against Tressel run DEEP. He was cheating in 2001. He was cheating at Youngstown. He was cheating as an assistant in the 80s!
May 31, 201114 yr this guy is as low as it gets..........he quotes passages from the bible, texts psalms to his friends and turns around and ignores his players selling memorabilia for weed?? rigs raffles against teenagers so elite players will win?? friggin hypocrite.......i hope this is just the tp of the iceberg for this program........
May 31, 201114 yr I think the big thing, and most of the people here in Columbus are missing this point, is the number of items that were traded by these players that had Tressel's autograph on them. He can claim he did not know all he wants, but why is he signing jerseys and jackets and what not for Pryor? What did he think Pryor was doing with all this stuff? Personally, I hope they get a one year TV ban (in addition to SC like sanctions). People will be jumping off bridges in Ohio if that happened.

This just in, Brady Hoke was streaking through the streets of Ann Arbor in joyus celebration about the news out of Columbus.. SMU was on a completely different level, those kids were actually getting paid, cash, and alot of it, to play football, with the assistance of the athletic department. The O$U thing reminds me of how the University of Miami program was run in the 80's - the inmates running the asylum - the majority of the issues are internal (compliance department/coach)
