These are not DECOMMIT threads--they are apparently positive rumor threads that are very active on rivals and IE---after reading through what i can ,i just can't find much to even base a good rumor on, but we don't want to be left out of the fun i guess.

 

Diaco and elston are in atlanta is one of the factors----there is a quote from ray drew's facebook about how he isnt going to geiorgia or LSU and he's gonna shock the world--yada yada

 

Rumors about a visitor/commit/ SURPRISE---all with very little MEAT ON THE BONES FROM WHAT I CAN TELL.

 

the one name appearing alot is of course RAY DREW--i just find that hard to believe---georgia or clemson or whatever but coming north at the last minute seems SO SO UNLIKELY.

 

Nothing in the rumors seem to be about huggins SO HE IS NOT THE SUBJECT---there is some mention of NIKLAS --BUT NIKLAS WOULD NOT BE A SURPRISE AT ALL--- we are a favorite for him--we visited him--his visit has been planned a long time---so NIKLAS does not fit the definition of a SURPRISE!----he would be a nice commit at the end and all that--and we do seem to have a pretty good shot--but it is NOT a surprise.

 

My instincts tell me this is just the ECHO BUZZ of the last couple weeks--and there is NO REAL SURPRISE COMING---but thats just my view---4000 hits over on rivals seems to have some people at least taking a rather vague rumor with some seriousness.

 

I AM JUST VERY HAPPY THESE LAST MINUTE RUMORS ARE POSITIVE ONES AND NOT TUITT & RABASA TO VISIT MIAMI__---I can't remember when we ended a cycle with positive rumors instead of negative ones--ITS A MUCH BETTER FEELING!!!!!

 

 

Anyhow i still think we are likely DONE for 2011 --with NIKLAS still the only thing REALLY in play----but rumor stuff is FUN, especially when its GOOD RUMORS OF ANOTHER GOOD WEEKEND--

Last time we had positive rumors near LOI day was the '08 class. Weis getting Milton Knox to visit late (probably would have come if not for family ties), tried to (allegedly) arrange a discreet visit from Rahim Moore that didn't pan out, and snagged KLM at the 11th hour.

 

Frankly, I wouldn't be shocked if we're making one last run at Hayes. If its anything like the way we treated Chase Hounshell's recruitment, I'm sure a lot of people here would dog pile the kid for his "program stability" comment and all that jazz, but I'd find a way to forget that if it meant 2 RBs instead of one. Its just a guess though - Shuler being an off in the distance dark horse.

 

I really don't see it materializing though, no matter who this recruit supposedly is. Could easily see it being some dude stirring up nothing for chuckles too - happens all the time around this time of year.

Every year around this time(just before signing day) there is always rumors of a signing day surprise yet it never seems to happen. So I'm not getting my hopes up.

Actually the signing day surprise used to always happen -- it just hasn't happened since Holtz left.

My big hail mary type hope for last year was Christian Green. Hope we get a big name to close out the class, that'd be an awesome way to end an awesome recruiting month.

Deion Walker was a pretty exciting get... That sure panned out.

The guys have definitely been in Atlanta and Servite. Ray Drew did mention ND when he spoke of shocking the world. It just feels good to know that ND has made the decision to be "The Man" again!

I guarantee and stake my reputation on it that there is a big surprise coming. Someday. For some team somewhere. It might be us. It might not. It might be this recruiting cycle. But then again...

Kelly was in Springfield, Missouri today at Hillcrest High school. Recruiting 2012 WR Dorial Green-Beckham. A certain former head coach from ND was there too!

ND is in the thick of it with Niklas and Huggins so it's not them. They may or may not be the favorites but when your in someones top 3 it doesn't constitute as a surprise.

 

While I've never claimed that ND has had much of a chance with Drew there are some that I know and respect that are much more in the know than most that have believed for some time that Drew would be a surprise commit to the Irish. They never really predicted it but just had a gut feeling with they've heard the last few month that it could very well happen.

 

That said I think it's wishful thinking but I'm also not going to dismiss it either as I'm pulling for that to happen.

I think people back then were speculating huggins? Or maybe he was referring to Ishaq? Just remember seeing posts over on II, feel free to correct me if this is not true at all lol

he said there was going to be one more and it seemed like he meant in the short term. didn't say anything about signing day. my impression was that he was talking about amir carlisle before the last minute switch to usc.

From what I see, a lot of it is echo chamber. All I can gather is that it is good news which is really the major thing I wanted to know. Sounds like a surprise so as Hawaii said, I don't think Niklas or Huggins would qualify there. I'm thinking it's a transfer into the program. The other option is that it is a recruit out of nowhere and they are working on his admissions but I still think it's a transfer.

 

FYI, I have literally no inside sources and don't pretend to. Just speculating. I get annoyed at people on messageboards that call shots after the fact or have excuses when their info is inaccurate.

well I think it was someone on the AA roster, that given possibly (Shuler, Brissett, Richardson, French) not sure who else held offers from ND that played in the game and would be considered a surprise

 

My guess? Drew. But that's a weak guess. But they all (updated edit: ST, AL, IW and Drew) did hang out at the AA. And when you're all on a high, you're all on a high....
