Sorry, forever irish 34, but this name is a new one. I haven't heard of seen any mention made of this player? Can you provide any other "vitals?" There are lots of Joneses - Roddy, Richetti, John and Andre [off the board], but this name is a new one? Where is he from? Where did he play? Etc. Thanks for any update you might provide.

Every piece of video I've seen on this guy, he is lined up in the shotgun as a quarterback. Lots of designed runs, draws, option running. Based on that, I'm not ready to forget about Benn, Little or Thompson.

Is there more film of him at WR?

He can definitely move, though. The first guy to get to him usually misses.

he is from ok city. he is is about 6 foot 190. the kid straight makes people look dumb. if anyone has a subscription to rivals check them out. his laterial movement is unbelievable. lets put it this way charlie weis saw his film and said he was the best football player he has seen this year. if we got in the open field it is over no question.

weis told the kid hes the best football player he has seen in awhile...enough said

"I talked to coach (Charlie) Weis about a week ago," Jones said. "He was just telling me that their offense is built around a player like me. He said I'm the best player he's seen in a while."

II, Steve Hare, April 10

I'm sold. Now what are our chances??

I hate to say it, but we really lack a true home run threat. Take Southern Cal. Absent Bush, USC would definitely not be the team they've been the last two years.

Closer to home, Rocket could completely change the complexion of a game when he was at ND. Mike Miller and Kurt Johnson were close, but I want a guy the other team has to hold their breath for.... We've been on the other side of that for way too long!

It's those one to three plays a game that make a difference. Let's hope we can get Mr. Jones to South Bend and this Oklahoma native does not follow another Gerald from that area!!

Just did some "research." Looks like this kid's stock really rose after a strong combine. An article that ran yesterday said that although several big names are pursuing him, that he "has a soft place in his heart for Michigan."

Great...

i dont know, its been quiet with him lately as far as ND, but i think when weis says that to a kid he means it, and if weis thinks that highly of him, i think he will go after him hard, weis can cherry pick oklahoma and this kid seems to be willing to leave, so i think we got a really good shot with him

i think we land him, weis inst going to let "the best player he has seen in a long time" go.

Could you imagine Kamara, Benn, Little and Jones?

BTW, I would place Rhema McKnight in the same category as Mike Miller. Not quite Rocket, but a game-breaker.

People have not mentioned him much in the national media since because of his shortened season last year after Michigan.

It's gonna be something to see a healthy McKnight in this offense!!

Congrads irishforever. Gerald Jones was featured on Irish Power Hour. He indicated that "Notre Dame is one of the greatest schools in the country." He now has an offer from ND, which he got while in class. His initial reaction was that he didn't believe it. He was "humbled" by the experience of being recruited by coachs "Weis and Haywood. He was not impressed with the OU campus [Liked OkSU better] and plans to make one of his visits to Notre Dame.

You weren't the only one that was impressed by his video. Coach Weis told him "he was the best player he had seen on film." Apparently this might be the reason that Golden Tate has not received an offer. The coaching staff likes Gerald Jones better! Nice scoop irishforever! Are there any links where we can also view that video? It certainly must be impressive if it got Coach Weis's attention :!:

Having looked at the videos again, Golden Tate appears faster to me.

What Jones has is the ability to make the first, second and even third guy miss. Lots of jukes and moves.

A neat player.

yea i believe tate is reported at a 4.4 and GJones a 4.5, in addition i agree even in football speed tate looks faster

i saw his films on rivals, if someone knows how to put the link up tell me and i will do that. on rhema mcknight, he is going to blow the doors off this offense, he is a COMPLETE reciever very polished. he will be a 1st round draft pick no doubt.

Rhema is a stud and he is being somewhat overlooked in 2006. He's better than Stoval.

Would have to agree with you Broke.Hes way better man.

rhema is way better than stovall, i am with you guys.

Just imagine if we had all three last year, Rhema, Stovall, and Samardzija...wow

yea but if Rhema doesnt get hurt we are hurting this year at wideout, so i think it worked out well

Gerald Jones is getting heavy looks at a basketball recruit as well? PLUS baseball? What an athlete.

I imagine that his high interest in Texas Tech would be on the basketball end of things.

This guy is a choose your sport kind of athlete.

yea but if Rhema doesnt get hurt we are hurting this year at wideout, so i think it worked out well

Defintely agree, a few games after he got hurt last year I was hoping he would redshirt so we could have him for this year, worked out great for us.
