Hey guys,

Been following ND recruiting for four years now and just recently found this sight. I believe you guys know whats going on and am excited to join.

Anyways, it seems as if the process with Tate has picked up. Anyone know where we may stand, how far along in the process he is? I recently read we are in his top 5. Sound right? I believe ESPN has him as an 84. Also seems like he could be used in a variety of roles.

not only does this young man have a cool name (esp. if your an ND fan) , but he also is a VERY intriguing "Utility player"/RB. If any of you haven't seen his clips.. check the stuff in this site's database.

Tate is listed as running in the 4.4 range.. and shows extremely elusive cut back ability/balance AND vision, both in traffic & in the open field as RB.. I also like seeing tough second effort determinstion (esp. for a smaller type body).

Hard not to notice the potential to potentially be a threat out of the backfield or as a "slot receiver" , showing real good hands..

also very exciting as a return man...

now that Bradon Saine has verballed to ohio st. this young man could be a terrific pickup as a speed threat/3rd back (behind Aldridge & maybe Tyler)/utility player..

he also seeme dlike an unselfish, insightful & well spoken young man in "AMP" feature

** Front page mentions ND possibly picking up recruitment of him ALSO: read recent article on him where he mentioned listing ND among top 5 among FL schools & Georgia. also said that ND sticks out because they will let him play baseball too

quote from H.S. coach :

Pope John Paul II High School head coach Jeff Brothers comments: "He's a player that can score from anywhere on the field, in any situation. He's very shifty, he has great vision, he's able to set up cut back lanes, and he has the breakaway speed to turn a potential loss into an 80-yard touchdown. He has tremendous talent, he's very humble and he understands that it could all be gone in a moments notice. He's a 3.0 (g.p.a.) student. He's a great kid. He's the kind of kid you pull for. He's a respectful, well-spoken kid. It's a thrill to be his coach."

I asked my buddy about Tate & the upcoming season, and while the kid has my buddy worried, PJP is all Tate and nothing else. My buddy said they are just going to put 8 maybe 9 in the box and say bring it. Hopefully, for my high school's sake, that works, but if the larger teams in the state start doing that, we can look to see his numbers fall some. They have been playing in a lower division, so Tate's numbers look good so far. Just an FYI not to be surprised when his numbers dip a little.

welcome rileypt,

As far as Tate goes he has yet to recieve an offer, partially this is because he hasnt gotten back his ACT scores, he just took them like a week ago, also, I believe (and someone correct me if im wrong) I heard that we are recruiting him as a cornerback mainly, with a chance he could end up as our speed back, as far as his recruitment goes he seems to be wide open at this point, there are alot of schools going after him, Alabama, Auburn, Flordia State, Georgia, Miami, and not to mention his hometown Vols, but we are in the picture. Im not sure how high he is on our list at any position as you can see from his lack of offer at this point, we got a few corners higher than him, and we got a few speedy backs higher than him, we also got some athletes higher on our board, but i think hes a good player and i think at somepoint as long as he doesnt make an early decision, which seems unlikely at this point, he will recieve an offer and then we will have to see his reaction

Riley, welcome to the DD.

Tate appears to be a very talented and versatile athlete. I think we will recruit him as an athlete and decide later where to put him. He'd be a great catch.

I think my boy TD got it right, waiting on test scores.

:) Welcome to DD Riley. He does seem to have that off field quality ND wants in her players. I'm not much for the brash ones just do it on the field, talk is cheap. :) Or if your mouth could score a touchdown you'd be all world.

There area quite a few schools going after him but we won't have to worry about Tennessee. Apparently, Tate really wants to go to school out of state and has stated that he is not interested in attending UT. Very interesting!

Chiro, TD recruiting gang. :) I come from as you all well no not a 'little jimmie' fan club, and he's gonna do this and that and I sure as others have been waiting on that.

I did NOT like his ostentatious presentation at Soth Bend, nor his mouth and rings, police escort and stretch. I know personally some players are NOT happy. I can tell you Charlie was upset with that display, more upset with 'shoot off his mouth Lemming.' I did not like his "It's business (or me, me me) which is a term, business Charlie uses but overlooks in as we all know LOVE of Notre Dame. I saw no love with little jimmie just me.

He did this big splash which made you all delirous March 22nd. I find it odd. Strange. Unusual. down right stupid not to believe when March 23rd the Bush crap hit the news. Then all the other USC problems hit the fan.

I'm to believe all this time he, his coaches, advisors, fam and hangers on right next to USC and back yard, did not get wind of this crap before it hit a newspaper? Think of that. Think of that. What was it less than 24 hours later?

Anyone notice how the little jimmy posts and updates evaprated but me?

Surely he is doing some septacular getting ready activities we would all drool over reading? Oh sure he's talking to X and Y guy. Well he's talking to his stage manager too.

Opps bye USC it's ME and hello Notre Dame. It's "business" I would not blame coach weis looking for another QB. I personally don't think little jimmie will stay. Grass always looks grrrrrreeeeener (It's business) on the other side. Once again Zach would blow him away. :)

Just an opinion. Never afraid to say so anywhere. :)

Bat, you make some good points. I think it is easy for people to get caught up in the hype and forget this is a seventeen year old kid. Bottom line is that talk is cheap. Lets see what happens on the field. I'm from the Harrisburg area and have followed Frazer for a while. This kid is a tough competitor and will not roll over easy upon the arrival of said "Jimmy". I want to see these kids go at it because in the final analysis it will be good for ND. I dont give a rats ass about these scouting services. Most of it is based on stats anyway. Zach struggled last year because he had nobody, and I mean nobody to support him on offense. Given the right circumstances, this kid is going to shine. Otherwise, Charlie wouldn't have given him the time of day. I'm not saying Clausen wont be "the man", all i'm saying is lets not put all of our eggs in this one basket.

JFS,

Remember, Zach had all sorts of talent around him his junior year and he was never rated as highly as Clausen.

Bat,

This hatred of JC is bordering on creepy. Your whole point before was that he hadn't committed and you didn't care if he did, but it seems like you care a whole lot. We'll never know for sure how many recruits we can directly attribute to his signing early, but Ragone is the only player who's committed since Clausen and he's admitted openly that JC was a BIG reason for it. You think Charlie cares how he announced? Does that really seem like something Weis would even care about? Is there even a small piece of you that doesn't think that Clausen would have been torn down and rebuilt from the ground up regardless of how he committed to the Irish?
