I've been hearing that OL Anthony Davis from New Jersey was being looked at by the Irish. He is 6'6'' and 315 pounds. Supposedly the staff was interested in him because he MANHANDLED DT Marvin Austin at last weeks camp! Anyone else hearing this guy's name from their sources? I heard he likes ND because he likes Weis.

i heard awhile ago we really wanted him, but i heard he wasnt so high on us, so i dont know what he thinks lately, but last i heard he wasnt very high on us

i saw the video against austin. manhandled is the perfect word for what took place.

ND doesn't show up on his lists of choices at Scout or Rivals, the guys trolling for hits. In none of the writeups that I've seen has there been any mention of GPA, Test Score or when scheduled, nor any mention of academics. Doesn't mean he's got academic problems but it also doesn't fit the "usual suspects" M.O. for ND either. Check his list of offers/choices: Miami, USC, FSU, LSU. Personally I'd feel better if a saw a Duke or Vandy or Stanford even mentioned in passing.

 

Charlies Weis and ND is a way to the NFL but not necessarily the easiest way. Some people may want to party through 4 or 5 years.

 

If anybody had seen academic info, please post so I'll feel we have some shot.

Anthony Davis, Scout.com 5-star OL from Piscataway, NJ, said he favors MIA slightly over USC (offer), FSU RU (offer) and UF. Davis said he has a written offer from the Scarlet Knights and claims a verbal offer from Trojan RB coach Todd McNair. "I haven't been down to Miami yet, but I've called the coaches and spoke with them a lot. I really think that Miami is a unified, tight, family-oriented team, and that's what I'm looking for. All the players seem to be really proud of their program, and I respect that a lot. In the NFL, you always hear guys talking about Miami." According to Davis, he also has written offers from UVA UMD ILL, BC, WVU UNC IOW. "The tradition is what I really like about USC, besides being such a strong, dominant program. I haven't talked with them personally yet, but my coach has talked with coach McNair, and he said that they offered me a scholarship. I talked with (WR) Dwayne Jarrett, and he told me a lot about the program and how much I would like it there." One of Davis' biggest concerns is playing time. He is looking for a school that will give him a chance to make an early impact. Davis said he plans on announcing his decision at the Scout.com sponsored Army AA Bowl if he is invited. He also plans on taking at least some of his official visits this summer. "I'll for sure visit USC and Miami. Distance is not a factor."

Charlie has MORE NFL connections than any coach in college at the moment. We need to use that to our advantage. Plus ND offense uses the same terminology as the Jets, Patriots and Cowboys. Which helps draftees adapt quicker!

i wouldnt count us out just yet with davis

I honestly have never heard a mention of Davis from my pipeline in NJ Father R.So I would never say he doesn't know the Public areas,but it's not been in my pipeline from there so I would not consider him even near ND. It's ND only from my source, from that he never speaks of another schools gets

I think he's the best tackle I've seen thus far, including Oglesby and Miller. He plays with an extreme mean streak that really separates him from everyone else. He manhandles people and should do it for a living someday on Sundays.

He had ND listed early but he pretty much eliminated ND.... I think it was a mutual decision. Not sure that he is a ND player.

yea hes off the radar, hes a phenom, but not an Irish phenom, but we will get other tackles have no worries, I think miller/ziemba/romine, we land 2 of the 3, my guess is miller and ziemba but you never know
