not really sure what it is right now, things are pretty quiet with him with regards to all schools, he only has a few offers, the big names havent really jumped in yet, im wondering if hes just a little overhyped in the coaches eyes, I think Austin and Barkesdale are both above him, but after that he should be on the list i thought, but we have offered some other guys before him so i dont know...sorry i dont have any info on this, it astonishes alot of us

Looking at Wade, is he any less than Josh Brent? I think he's better.

hes better IMO

Brent seems like a very nice, polished young man in his interview after the Adidas camp. As I said earlier, we desperately need depth along the DL and he could really help in that department.

While you never know with an 18 year old, his comments seem as though he is thoroughly impressed with ND, the coaches, facilities and the BG game.....

I think we have a VERY good chance once the offer is made.

With respect to Wade, will grades be an issue?

Best DT West of the Mississippi

...

He asked the line coach there to pull out the best lineman from Calif. to challenge him. Listening to Wade describe it, the challenge came and went in an eyelash. "No disrespect to the guys in California, but they couldn't get a hand on me," said Wade. "Trust me, I don't want to come off as sounding cocky, I just want to sound confident.

"When I saw video of Marvin Austin, he talked about how this is a business, and I applaud him for saying that. That's how I feel about it. After seeing guys like him and Andre Jones and Joseph Barksdale, I just wish there was an elite combine for linemen where we could settle it, see who is better than who."

Charlie Weis and Notre Dame were seeing watching Wade go through his paces, as well as the entire Pac-10, Boise State and Colorado. Oregon and Oregon State have offered Wade so far, and that number will certainly rise after a successful combine appearance.

"My focus was to dominate the entire combine, and I feel like I did that," said Wade unabashedly. "My thing was not to get star-struck. That's why I came down here last year, to get the jitters out, so that I could come down this year and own it."

Wade, who measured in at 6-foot-2 and 316 pounds, ran a 5.2 40 and a 4.7 shuttle. "It was on wet grass, everyone was slipping," he said. He also jumped 29.1 inches in the vertical jump and had 29 reps of 185 pounds in the bench press - all marks he expects to improve on during June's Nike camp in Eugene.

"Again, I don't want to sound as if I'm being cocky," Wade said. "But in my honest opinion, no one can touch me on the west coast. I think I'm the best defensive tackle this side of the Mississippi.

"When I hit college, that school will reap the benefit."

Austin might be better on the field, but Wade is better in terms of his genuine interest in Notre Dame. I think with an offer he'd be Notre Dame's to win or lose. Previous statements he's made reflect his character and the desire to WANT to be at Notre Dame.

I fail to be able to say the same for Marvin Austin. And that's fine. But Barksdale, Wade and Brent have realistically become the three DT right now that ND has a legit chance with.

Myles Wade is as good as any DT in America. I can only guess that because he plays in the Pac NW that his competition is being questioned.

If he doesn't get an offer by the end of the month, something is up.

Anyone know whats really going on with Wade. He is a Rivals 100 member and only has two offers. Grades? Will we offer?

Fetters spoke of Wade in glowing terms in the article above in the another thread on this board, "Palo Alto Nike: D-line dominators" Crabtree highlights a couple of DLs and only mentions Wade in passing:

Coming into the camp a lot of the focus in Oregon had been placed on defensive lineman Myles Wade of Portland Benson Tech – and he did have a good day on Saturday – but both college coaches and camp instructors agreed that Frahm, a defensive end from Portland Central Catholic, was one of the top guys along the defensive line.

I've seen a 2.8 GPA reported with no test info.

Maybe CW is waiting on his test scores, according to Scout "Wade reports a 2.8 core GPA/May first-time SAT."

On a side note, I really liked this comment from him:

"When I saw video of Marvin Austin, he talked about how this is a business, and I applaud him for saying that. That's how I feel about it. As for landing Austin, let's remember that Charlie has alot of time to still do his magic. At this time last year, we were a longshot at best to land Young.

Our renewed high expectations for ND has us very impatient. Myself included.

I blame Charlie Weis for all of this. 2 years ago, I was just happy knowing ND got a replacement in a position of need.....now, I want the #1 guy at these spots, and I want them NOW!!!

i think wade will get an offer sometime here early in june and i think he will likely end up as our third dt prospect, i still think trattou is a dt, along with barkesdale (who i really think will be irish), and then add wade, and the wait comes down to Austin, if we miss out on Austin then you may see a lesser prospect get a shot, but i think the staff feels good about Austin (despite my doubts about him being Irish) which would explain why Brent walked away and why a few other guys Nichols and others haven't been chased all that hard by this staff
