Has anyone heard of this kid before? I saw a blurb on Irish Illustrated yesterday about Lateek Townsend, and today, ISD ran an article on him. Outside LB from South Carolina that sounds like one of the poster kids for BK's RKG. Just wondered if there was any info on him. I don't think we've offered him yet, but there seems to be alot of interest from the coaching staff.

Can we please retire the phrase RKG ?

It drives me nuts to think about people describing Ben Councell as a RKG...Dude is 6'4 225 with a 4.4... Now this guy gets lumped into the same mix, hmm let's see Clemson, Florida, Tennessee, Miami, Auburn and a dozen other schools have offered him, he must be the right kind of guy for them too.

If a guy has 386 tackles over two seasons of play and a senior year still to go... He passes the resume test for me...

If it smells like and RKG, he is an RKG!

I see what you mean, coach, about the RKG phrase. This guy has 200 tackles each of the last 2 seasons, so he definitely can play. However, I was referring to the type of individual he was, that it wasn't all about the football. He is out to make a difference with people and is willling to give of his time. I would want a guy like that on my team any time, and the fact he is an exceptional player makes him the kind of person that Notre Dame would be proud to have on their team. It's not all about him, it's about team and community.

I don't get the "Couldn't make it to ND because of the weather" comment. Did they have to drive through a hurricane or something?

There is severe weather in the NC/SC area right now (I actually went to weather.com to find out if he was being serious or not) so I wouldn't recommend driving through all of that either. I know car accidents don't happen all the time, but sometimes it's better to be safe than sorry.

This guy has been talking with Hakeem Flowers, who has said great things about ND and has already said he will take an official visit. Maybe both come to campus the same week and are a package deal. I sure hope so as these are two great players who would look good in the blue and gold.

Fair enough. It just sounded like one of those "Oh, there's a drop of rain, better not leave the South...ever" comments you hear a lot from SEC recruits.

Thanks Jersey Irish... Keep fist pumping and beating back the beat :)

How about RGG instead of RKG---:-)-RGG--Really Good Guy--aloha's

Not Really Good Guy...........Really GREAT Guy!!:llama::llama:

This could be one of those deals where an official visit could blow him away like only Notre Dame can do......that is if he is a RKG......er.....RGG.

well now...

according to clemson rivals lateek named his top 5 today "Clemson, Florida, South Carolina, LSU and USC." (in no order)

Let's hope his top 5 is only a representation of those places he has already visited. It sounds as though he is open to visiting and if he does, we have an opportunity of moving into his short list.
