June 16, 201015 yr Yea I saw that, gonna be nice... except for the fact that I have time warner cable
June 16, 201015 yr Yea I saw that, gonna be nice... except for the fact that I have time warner cable Why does that matter? I have comcast.
June 16, 201015 yr Why does that matter? I have comcast. You still need to have a cable company that subscribes to ESPN3. Time Warner (my cable company as well) doesn't do that, so this feature on Xbox 360 is useless to us.
June 16, 201015 yr Are you sure it is not going to be an application you download to your xbox, like netflix or something? I do not even see how that would work, how would my xbox know if I had comcast, time warner ect.?
June 16, 201015 yr Are you sure it is not going to be an application you download to your xbox, like netflix or something? I do not even see how that would work, how would my xbox know if I had comcast, time warner ect.? So.... I think I can add something to this. Now, I thought that the XBox ESPN thing is outside of the provide. I have ESPN 3 (previously known as ESPN 360) and it was great to watch all my Marquette games. And the browser does recognize if your service provider subscribes to that service (some of my friends did not have it). Now, I think (not sure) XBox would be your "service provider" in this instance therefore, all you would need is an internet connection. Just my thought.
June 16, 201015 yr Author Exactly, the 360 will be the direct feed media hub for ESPN...awesome for us as we don't get it up here in Canada...
June 16, 201015 yr I know it sounds like I'm a party pooper, but go check out the thing about ESPN on the Xbox 360 dashboard. A direct quote: For access to ESPN3.com content, Gold Members must receive their internet connection from an affiliated broadband provider. The Xbox 360 doesn't create it's internet connection from thin air. It still grabs it from whatever your actual ISP is. If it isn't one of the companies affiliated with ESPN, you can't access the ESPN content on your Xbox. If you can't get ESPN3 on your PC, you can't get it on your Xbox. It sucks because I was also super excited about it, but I wish Microsoft would have been more honest when they announced the feature.

Like netflix, you download the application and then it is just streamed through your internet service.
June 16, 201015 yr Author I know it sounds like I'm a party pooper, but go check out the thing about ESPN on the Xbox 360 dashboard. Awwww, WTF. You're right. Here's a list of the providers who will get the stream: http://espn.go.com/espn3/affList
June 16, 201015 yr Awwww, WTF. You're right. Here's a list of the providers who will get the stream: http://espn.go.com/espn3/affList Rocket, Can you just get a PO box in the states (or a friend to get you one) and have that as your address and get direct TV? Not that I would be one to break the rules... That would get you all you need, wouldn't it?
June 16, 201015 yr Rocket, Can you just get a PO box in the states (or a friend to get you one) and have that as your address and get direct TV? Not that I would be one to break the rules... That would get you all you need, wouldn't it? Don't the installers still have to come out and set it up though? You used to be able to order a dish and box online then self-install, but I don't know if you can still do that.
June 16, 201015 yr Author We used do the one hour drive to go over to Target in Niagara Falls, New York and buy a box but they somehow figured out that and put a stop to it... There's a college football sports package you can buy here but it's mega expensive each month. Not really worth it for one or two Notre Dame ESPN games...could give a rat's behind for the other games they show. And you have to commit to a contract, not month by month (or better yet, game by game)...
June 17, 201015 yr So.... I think I can add something to this. Now, I thought that the XBox ESPN thing is outside of the provide. I have ESPN 3 (previously known as ESPN 360) and it was great to watch all my Marquette games. The XBox isn't your service provider just as your computer isn't your service provider.... Time Warner is one of the few that do not support ESPN3
June 17, 201015 yr I have qwest and cannot get ESPN3. If anyone wants to give me access to ESPN3 via remote access I would surely appreciate it.
June 17, 201015 yr https://www.espnplayer.com/espnplayer/ncaa this is available to everyone (at least outside of the usa), pretty much a espn ppv site for college sports, lets you pay for daily, monthly, and yearly
...especially for us Canadians. 3,500 ESPN sporting events including HD college footbball available to XBox Live Gold members starting this year...
