Is this something new you have heard? There was another thread about his visit saying that he was close, and that Jarrett Grace had said that he would be committing soon? It would suck if grades were an issue.

Probably have to re-take the ACT - I think they are looking for something in the 20+ range......

either way Hardy is alot closer than Daniels. Daniels had a 2.0 gpa and didnt take the ACT yet. That's the diff between a guy who's close to qualifying and a guy who has an outside shot.

I don't know about DD's ACT score, but I heard he retook a class, and changed the grade from a D to an A-.

i dont get how ya can retake classes in HS. In my HS if you retook the class, you got a new grade but both grades counted towards the GPA. Same with college unless it was a class you took as a 1st semester frosh.

By focusing on varsity Football and Basketball instead of your grades. It was in an article a while back - school just wasn't as important as sports when he was a freshman in high school

Yep. His freshman lit class. Also, he is presently sporting a 2.5 GPA and 19 ACT. He will retake the ACT and says he had A's, B's, and 2C's this year, so his GPA will go up. He should be fine.

isn't there a gpa minimum to be able to participate in multiple sports???????

You can't fail more than one class in Michigan (or at least that's how it was back in the late nineties.) I had friends getting all D's simply because they played and partied, and the school was fine with it as long as you didn't fail two classes. I remember hearing the AD asking one of my friends if he pulled up his F in a math class because he was in danger of flunking an English class...

Hopefully it's changed since then...

I believe you must have a C average, therefore 2.0 GPA.

That is only a rule with private schools, mostly of the catholic variety. In public schools, you must not be failing in half of your courseload. If you are failing say two out of four classes, you are not allowed to play. If you fail one, though, you can.

As you can see from the multiple responses it varies from state to state based on what the state's athletic governing body chooses. Leagues and schools can also enforce stricter standards if private.

in my school it was if you fail more than 1 class with a full course load you're ineligible. or if you have a study hall and fail any class you're ineligible.
