WOW that would be awesome !! Its been way too long since ND has played those bastards..

looks like if this happens this should keep the Irish away from any big ten conference IMO . go Irish

If that happens, there is no way I'm missing that game

Awesome. 2012 looks to have some pretty good teams on the schedule. We get USC, Michigan (maybe), Oklahoma, and now Miami. That is year 3 for Kelly...

Back in the late 80s and 90s I never thought there would be a more thuggish, uncivilized, criminal infested program than Miami. Then SC comes along in 2003.....

It's been two decades and it's time to start up the old Catholics vs. convicts rivalry.

I would love to play Miami every year. I've actually watched the '88 and '90 games recently and they were great games. It would be great if we could have games like ND/Miami more often, but conferences screw that up.

I believe this is the best news and move from our AD

This is the rivalry that first got me into Notre Dame -- Amazing games, polar opposite teams, NCs on the line every year. I don't think the Trojans of this past decade were anywhere near the scumbag level of "The U" back then.

Any idea why this would be at Soldier Field? If it's a one-time game, I understand a neutral site, but who fooled Miami into thinking Chitown is "neutral"? And if it's home-and-home, I'd rather we keep it in Rockne's House.

Nice read smaster. Yeah, Solder field only holds 60 to 61 or 65 thousand some odd seats compared to ND's 81 thousand seats. Those tickets will be at a premium for this game. Don't forget we kick off with Navy September 2012 in Ireland as well.

I took a look at both ND and Miami's two schedules. It seems that ND would hold the game in October a TBA month unless one school agrees to be bumped to another date.

I was at Mimi's empty schedule for 2012. They have plenty of wiggle room and the AD and new coach Fisher have a ton of work to do.

Sorry for the error Schell. I was just reading about Coach Fisher and won't bother to edit it. and let my error stand. I do believe the rest is correct tho?:-D 2012 looks good.

Farther checking I found that it would be easy for Miami to play us.

I looked at the ACC conference rules were for Non Conference games, say Miami.

This is awesome, please make this happen...

We should play Miami every year so i can see the Irish in person every other year...

This will make 2012 a watershed year in my opinion. We all know the history of the big time coaches winning a title by year three. In Kelly's year three, they travel to Oklahoma and USC. Play Miami neutral site and still have Pitt and Mich at home. That is at least 4 top 20 teams, with Oklahoma a likely top 5 and Miami trending up. Add to that going to Ireland for a game and exchanging Tulsa and W. Mich for Wake Forest and Baylor, and that will be a top 5 schedule in the country. Winning a title will be tough, but certainly legit.

As a watershed, ND will need to compete with all four and beat at least 3 of those top 4 teams to be able to say they are back on the national stage.

Big props to Miami President Donna Shalala and coach Randy Shannon. They really improved the image of the Miami football. It took some time but they are pushing high academics and discipline on that football team. Glad Shannon got the extension. He derserved it.

I know Wisconsin really wanted to play ND in Chicago but ND never seemed to return Alvarez's phone calls. I'm glad they went out and got a big time program to play.

Fun game in '88.....

It really will be an watershed year for Notre Dame as Cory said. Excitement with almost every game. Tenuta's correct and by then may Miami build up a program.

Here's a couple sites to get your juices flowing.

I think Miami ended last season in the top 25 and will probably start in the top 20 this season. They are trending up and could be a top 10 type team by then. We know what kind of players are in Florida and they seem to be getting more of them. Three top 15 recruiting classes the last 4 four years, the other number 24. One year they were number three. Will certainly be a good test for the Irish. Hopefully we will be at their level by then!

what in the hell do the "hurriganes" signing tallahassee lassie have to do with this thread?

anyways... this is very exciting news, that schedule does look brutal though.

Extreme sorrow Rocket, about the Hurrigains. I thought it would drum up a bit of interest in the members. I said it was to "get the juices flowing" for things FLA. Sorry if you disapproved. Simply don't play it next time around please leave it to others.

I'd make it the theme song for the game.

All the best finding music attached to ND and a game.
