Transfers

Recommended Posts

It appears that Junior Jabbie, Labrose Hedgemon and Justin Hoskins will be confirmation I don't have confirmation on each of them yet but it looks like they are all leaving.

Transfers comes with success. None of them are in our 2 deep depth chart. As more talent arrives the guys on the bottom of the depth chart end up transferring. This will continue to happen through the Weis years. It's not a bad thing. It's not like the top talent is transferring.

Now BG has a story up on it. They are saying that all 3 are transferring. They are saying that Hoskins will not go to a team that we play and his father said it will not be a Div 1-AA team. A 1-AA team would allow him to paly this fall.

Hedgemon is the situation that I find odd. He was suspended for a year, came back last year (did not see field much) and now he is leaving.

Of Ty's 2004 class, there is only 10 scholarship guys left: DW, Justin Brown, Crum, Talley, Lambert, Ferrine, Verganlia, Wolke, Banda, Bragg.

Pitiful.

yea im hearing all three of those broke, but i heard jabbie may not be leaving ND yet, that he just will not be playing football, but is still enrolled at ND...maybe he just hasnt finalized the deal yet...Hoskins is the biggest bust of all of these, he was suppose to be very good and couldn't push anyone out of his way on the depth chart

Hoskins never materialized, was rated high coming out of high school. He realized he was probably #4 behind DW, TT, and Aldridge. He would probably have to battle Schmidt too. He just wasn't a good fit...you're right Ty's '04 class turned out pitiful, we'll probably feel that for awhile (there you go Blue...that I will admit)

Running back Justin Hoskins has asked for and been granted release from his Notre Dame football scholarship, according to his father, Osbe Hoskins Jr. [more]

The thing that ticks me off is that these guys are learning nothing about committment. In football, as in life, you will not always work for someone you like. However, when you make a committment you don't just pick up your ball and go home because you get your feelings hurt. I know it's great because we will have more scolarships but these guys need to learn that the grass is never greener on the other side.

this is how it goes chiro, all of these kids were great in high school and when they come to a school and end up buried on the depth chart, they decide they wouldd rather just play somewhere so they leave...its not a big deal, its part of the process, it also means we are bringing in great talent so thats a plus

I'm not sure it's not a mutual thing.... CW is not like Spurrious and he is not going to take scholarships away but I can see him having a heart to heart with a kid that is not going see the field. They know they can stay around and work on the practice team or go elsewhere.

In the end this is a good thing, it will allow CW to recruit a few more players this year.

Absolutely broker:

Whether walk on or some hot kid there is more schloarsips to go around, remembering we have to drop to the 15 + range of offers after thi year.

I must admit at thstart of the Weis era I was disturbed by only getting 15 guys and so many of Ty's walking away as I was not grasping his quality over quantity. You know when we started so late recruiting and every other school was loaded to the boat gunwhales with players. They would be just filler, Bench riders and locker room jocks.

I think our coaches, and someone mentioned Polian's talent choosing, it's a bit differet then from other coaches. Not to say a college coach can't evaluate talent, but we have a number of NFL coaches on the staff that look at talent a bit differently then many Division 1 schools.

Looking back I see that Coach got a mite upset wit that Architecture guy. And his response in the SB Tribune prompted Coach to reply. He was in Charlie plans, any issue Charlie thought resolved and this messed up his main battle plans. I don't think anyone dares do that.

I think it works out well for the reasons mentioned above. Also, I got the impression that Weis was never very high on Hoskins, maybe it was an attitude issue, injuries...it just seemed that when Aldridge commited that he was more of a "Weis" guy than Hoskins was. It appeared that Aldridge was immediately thrown in the mix w/ DW and TT. Supposedly Hoskins was more of a sure bet than DW, just goes to show that these guys evaluating talent don't always know what they're doing.

Darius and Hoskins were both 3 star, so I don't see why everyone claims he was supposed to be great. I never followed recruiting until now, though, so there could always have been articles that made him seen better. As for transferring I think it isn't that smart of an idea on their part. They get one of the best educations out there free, all they need to do is be part arguably the most prestigous football program in the nation. Sacrificing education for a year or two of football is not a good idea.
