True, would be a good fit there also. He has the basic idea of the playbook. They might differ from NE to ND. NE may have a few different schemes. Good idea, love to see that happen too.

Some of the experts say he will be going on the first day and say that he will be a 3rd round pick unless his stock is still rising.

Hate to go on yet another Tyrade, but I was one of Stovall's biggest supporters and later detractors (the later I blame entirely of Tyrone Fraudingham). It was frustrating to see the flashes of brillance we did when he was a freshman, yet nothing concrete the following two years. Honestly, Ty was a freaking wide receiver at a legit collegiate program. Meanwhile Charlie had nothing to do the football team when he was a student. It's shocking that Charlie could get more out of Mo than Tyrone.

Stovall's first paycheck needs to go to Hanna and Friends, because I guarantee he wouldn't be seeing the kind of money he will be come April if not for Charlie. Speaking of which, that damned team has given me so much joy over the past 10 months of so, I should sent my next check to them. Too bad I'm poor.

i remember in stovalls freshman year against navy, it was like 4th and 10 or so when holiday threw a long jump ball down at the goalline and stovall out jumped two defenders for the ball.

I think your reasons for saying that he is a product of a system have good grounds to them, but Tyrone could only be the kind of coach CW is in his dreams. It may be the system, or it could be that a good coach came in and actually developed and coached his players. Tyrone did neither of these as evidence of so many players have huge breakthroughs i.e. Brady Quinn, Jeff Samardzija, Mo Stovall, the o-line didn't give up near as many sacks this year. Basically it was the coach more than the system in my views. Charlie actually pushed Stovall and the rest of the team, got them in shape, and brought confidence to a team that "didn't have talent."

Or all the breakout players this year were just products of a system too. I can't see that though.

I never saw that. Of course I never really paid attention until this year for some reason.

Where do you guys think he'd do better, Pittsburgh or New England. He'd do well in both, just wondering where you guys think he'd do better at.

stovall will go in the late second or early third round to the patroits, i agree he should donate a couple of bucks to hanna and friends. count on it. go irish. :)

ill say this-if any ND big name player, Quinn, Samardzija, Zibby, or Stovall, Darius, Anyone goes to the Pats ill become a Pats fan. ive never liked a NE team before even though i live here, but im willing to break that if an ND player comes here

hey Massachusetts wasn't givens from notre dame?

I've never liked them either, just a few players on the team. But I'm with you, if any big ND guy goes to NE they'll have a new fan. Especially if it's Stovall this year and Quinn, Zibby, or The Shark next year.

I don't think Stovall's success was a product of the system either. He's a phenominal talent that was being wasted by Tyrone. In my mind Stovall would have been the steal of this draft if Tyrone was given one more year. Charlie of course would have drafted him, and boom the success Stovall enjoyed this year would come a year or two later.

I agree, Mo's success can be partially accredited to Weis, a coach who motivated and got the best of him instead of being a friend or a "player's coach" like Ty. I have no bad feelings of Ty the man, he's friendly and seems like a dedicated man....but as a coach he couldn't light the fire.

Hopefully the Steelers and Pats see that, and see that he's not a complete product of Weis and take him as soon as possible. He has great upside. I think he could end up like TO; resulpture his body, work on his speed and be TO without a bad attitude (not sure if Stovall can get as big as TO though).

I definitely think that Mo will be a 1st day pick. When during the first day however, I have no idea...

Obviously Santonio Holmes, Chad Jackson and Sinorice Moss will be the first three WR's off the board. I still think that Jackson is the best receiver available this year, followed by Holmes... and I am not a big fan of Moss. I think he's overrated. In my opinion, Stovall should be the 3rd WR taken... but hype is everything and unfortunately Moss has the hype...

As a Viking fan, I would love to see Minnesota take Stovall... We actually need another receiver since we are about to lose Burleson to the Seahawks and Marcus Robinson is getting old. Stovall would be perfect to take over for Robinson because he has the same skill set and would be an ideal red zone target that can leap.

The Vikes should be looking at WR early in the 3rd round, so it may work out perfectly...*pray *pray

potentially, the 3 big WRs could be taken in the 1st. Jackson and Holmes for sure, Moss early second if not 1st. That leaves thing wide open for Stovall, who could go 2nd to anybody really. I'm hoping for either NE or Pittsburgh. I would be happy if he went to Minn., Buffalo, somewhere where he'd make an impact early. i think that's the case in any of the 4 listed. I'm scepticle though on Minn, they don't really have a QB right now do they?

Scotty,

Ty's a scumbag. At any point he could have stopped the media backlash against Notre Dame regarding his firing, but he allowed people like John Saunders to paint the University as racist when the simple fact of the matter was that he failed as a coach and a man.

Blue, I don't think the guy is a skumbag...I remember that he and his wife continued to make appearances in South Bend at charity events during his firing. Maybe this was to save face, maybe he felt obligated to follow through. Either way, I think anyone who loses a job holds contempt...but I don't think he pulled the "race card", other people painted that picture. He failed on the field but maintained the academics, so that accounts for something. Blue, he was never an Irish guy but he ultimately served his role in getting Charlie here, so I don't see the need for harsh words. GO IRISH!!

Ty could have saved the University from being painted as racist by merely admitting he failed to live up to the stated terms of the contract. He was given an opportunity of a lifetime and spent most of his time on the golf course. From former players it was not unusual that the day before the game the bus was late leaving because Ty wanted to fit a "quick 18" in. He would usually golf 9 holes before going into work, 9 holes after, and occassionally doing another 9 during lunch.

You won't hear me say an ill word about Gerry Faust (he was simply inadequate). I'll only occassionally make comments about Boob Davie (he was also inadequate and certainly didn't "get" Notre Dame). Tyrone is open game (he was inadequate, didn't "get Notre Dame, and most egregiously LAZY).

By the way, being a nice guy and graduating players is something you're SUPPOSED to do as the head coach of Notre Dame football. That would be like me getting arrested for drunk driving, but explaining that I shouldn't be held accountable because I didn't kill any strippers. Sorry, but Charlie gets you can't just be a nice guy and graduate players. You need to bust your ass and put a team out there than is prepared and ready to win.

I would have to agree with you Blue.Ty was lazZzzzzzzzzzy. What i read was the same thing about ty wanting to golf as much as he could. If he would of put that much time in recruiting and coaching up the players to be winners he would probably be still coaching at ND.
