:D Has everyone visited UND official site and seen the new Gug pix? My jaw dropped.

If I ever thought I'd kill to run out of that tunnel I'd now do the same thing just for the practice facilities at ND. The team must be floating high.

What an amazing and classy facility. They did a great job of providing a cutting edge facility that still captures the tasteful, prestigious feel of the Notre Dame campus. Next time I'm there I have to check out that mural.

Yeah, that's gonna have to happen. I need to pick up the big "Play like a champion today" sign for my newly finished basement bar. I'll hang it on the header at the bottom of the stairs. All partiers will be required to smack the sign before entering.

First and foremost, as a recent alum I will say that the construction on and around campus is HORRIBLE. It is impossible to appreciate the beauty of the campus since you never get the feeling that it's "done."

Also a couple comments, unless I'm misunderstanding you Domehead:

The old bookstore has been torn down and replaced (location wise) by the Coleman-Morse center for at least 5 years now.

The building south of campus near the Eck Center (Alumni building) is the DPAC (DeBartolo Performing Arts Center), which is ABSOLUTELY amazing. The Philbin is a blackbox theater within the building. The DPAC also features a more conventional theatrical stage, a concert hall, and unless I'm mistake another theater type thing for showing films. I had an upper level theater class there and the facilities are professional level. To paraphrase my professor, the building has no deficencies. I would highly recommend anyone who can to take a tour of that building.

As far as "The Gug" I've never been, but from all accounts it is supposed to bring Notre Dame athletics into the 21st century. All I can say is that Kevin White better hope so.

stand corrected on the names of the buildings..gald you could help put that into line for us. As far as the construction being done at this time..of course it is hard to see the beauty in it now.. however I guess I just envisioned it as what it would look like when it was completed... and that IS going to be beautiful...there is not much on that campus that isn't beautiful..thanks for the correct names as it will help to give updates when I visit the campus the next time. GO IRISH

It was a sad state of affairs while I was there... The library basement was being renovated, they were adding a extension to one of the science or engineering buildings, they built the new security building near stepan, plus the gug, dpac, and constant renovations to the stadium...

not sure how many people know this but apparently when the stadium was originally added onto the plumbing was atrocious, meaning almost every year they end up having to go back in there and fix something... it was like going to school on a construction site...

not to mention graduating under that dome... which was covered with scaffolding at the time...

i will be returning this weekend, so if anyone wants any updates let me know...
