I do not know if this has been talked about here yet or not. Knowing where Coach Weis came from it became apparent to me that he could and should be salivating before everygame. He is calling the plays against college defenses / personel, not NFL defenses / personel. Then again, it is up to the players' to execute his playcalling. Your thoughts from you guys about this topic is appreciated.

Weisguy:

He's a genius in schemes "The schemer" (See mafia) ahaha. You rteally answered your own question. How they execute them? Time will tell. Who what where and when? There will be a St Valentinesday massacre for some highly rated team against ND.

Remember he and the other coach crew say "we are first teachers"

I'm as optomistic as anybody but I'm reserving judgement until they play. However, there at 2 examples of why I like Weis and think he'll be successfull. 1.) I read an article where they were talking to Zach Thomas, who is a linebacker for the Dolphins and a noted film junky, and he said he quit watching film of the Patriots b/c it didn't do any good. Weis never did the same thing twice. The second example was last years play-off game against the Colts. The weather was bad and Weis took the ball away from Manning and the Colts by running right at them. I think they controlled the ball for over 40 minutes of the game. It didn't hurt that he had Tom Brady and Corey Dillon but the plan was, in a word, brilliant. Brilliant b/c it makes sense. If ND would have had some common sense last year they would have won 9 games. I don't think anybody is asking for 50 points and 600 yards a game. I think Weis has the brains to give it to Walker alot, to get McKnight the ball without using the flippin' slip screen, to use Stovall more in the redzone, to not punt at the opponents 30 on 4th and 1, to actually throw it once in a while to the back out of the back field, etc... Some common sense and a break here or there and this is a 9 win team waiting to happen. Sep 3rd we'll all know.

All true but I haven't seen a single thing that has shown me we can't be competitive with what is on the team.

Just when I think Coach Weis can't possibly have a new twist or idea Bingo he has one. Even if it's noise ofn the defense side. It's an oldie for O guys.

I poured over Coach jappy's words on that D side. Mixing inexperienced with experienced players, 1st, 2nd, 3rd team if you will. What this does is create "TEAM" there's no upper classmen know it alls, This helps on that constand 'depth' problem. This is just Patriots Plug and play groupings.

For the players themselves? Hey Mom no more riding the bench for two years I'm getting some playing time, be sure to watch me. That has to generate enthusiasm, excitement and make you give 110%.

CW just conveys this sense that he absolutely knows he can outwit any college defensive coordinator. He is smart enough to know that under the glare of the national spotlight, you don't make statements without backing them up. I don't care how he does it, I just know he will. Under Ty, we had a several outstanding athletes on the field. Under CW, we will have an outstanding TEAM on the field.
