On rivals it says Gray has set his announcment date and stated which schools have made the cut. I am assuming we have made the cut, but does anyone have any info on this?

It would be nice another D cornerback, Coach has been to NC and SC quite a bit. I believe SC is his other home and the farm.

Ya it would be nice to get this great DB.We can use all the ones we can pick up.

I just read the article that he is making the decision on Thursday. I am split on if he will be ND or not. It appears that is basically down to ND, South Carolilna, Florida State and Tennessee. He also lists Florida and NC State. To me, it appears to be a S. Carolina and ND race. SC has location in their favor. He is from SC and goes to alot of the SC games and practices. South players "tend" to stay close to home. Obviously that is going against us and can't blame the kid for that. But as far as what is going for us: He drove all the way from SC to South Bend a few weeks for a junior day, you don't do that unless you have strong interest. The ever-so-popular Jimmy Clausen connection, he called Jimmy on his way home to tell him how the junior day went. He also is scheduled to come to ND for the BG game--which is after his announcement. ND is currently a far better program than South Carolina. Last, and certainly not least, is that Charlie Weis is personally recruiting Gary Gray.

My guess is that he is ND but I don't know that for sure.

What's anyones gut feel on this guy? I know there is a danger to read too much into anything but interesting announcement comes 23rd after 1st ND Practice. To be honest the whole situation is exactly like our CIA and the old Soviet Union. CIA would scan the pictures of who was next to who on top of Lenins tomb to figure out the changes in Soviet leadership and who's a rising star or on the outs.

Coach seems bent on filling the D side eeds first, as if to say kid don't wait to verb late cause we are full. (?)

Hey Broker man this sounds like its going to be good news.I think i haven't read a post from you that says {My Guess is ND}lol .Just joking..What you wrote makes alot of since.I'm thinking on the same line.I believe Wies wants him to commit early and be at the B&G game to help recruit other players that may show up.

For many of the reasons Broker mentioned above, I would be surprised if he did not choose ND.

...almost as surprised as I was when Andre Jones chose Texas.

I agree with what broke said (as always) and I think it would be a HUGE suprise in my opinon...I disagree with Jones being a suprise he is a Texas kid and Texas doesnt lose texas kids...I think this will be real insight in to whether JC has the pull we all think he does...I am assuming here he is on board, and if Gray comes then that not only proves JC is in but it shows the talent he will be helping to bring

also he would be an early enrollee

I am glad Andre's decision wasn't a surprise to you, because when I heard the news, I was floored. I really thought he was a domer…..oh well, I have been wrong before, and I will be wrong again.

Back to the GG topic - I do not believe one way or the other that this will give us better insight on JC's intentions. I know these guys are talking, but in the long run, they are their own men….and this decision is one that impacts family, and friends as well as football.

If Gary chooses ND, I look at Weis as the reason…not JC.

I don't think it would be a surprise if Gray did not choose ND. Most probably wouldn't even consider us to be the favorite. It's more difficult to grab kids out of the south. Yes, we have done it many times. but the odds increase for kids in the south. they tend to be very rooted.

that being said, I still think he is Irish. but I sure wouldn't put any money on it.

I was snooping around some of the SC boards, and they are pretty sure he is going to SC. Apparently he has been spending a lot of time on campus and a few people are claiming that his calls to JC are to recruit him not the other way around.....

Sir john yesterdaysnews42@aol.com

Hey irishguy nice info. :) It is possible.I know I will be shot at but i am not big on JC. I see no worry about a QB slot in 2007 with what we have coming in 2006. I am almost willing to bet weis feels that way. If JC comes in fine if not well maybe even finer? OK we load the boat 25 full this year. 15+? after that. Let's chase a QB then.

Coach roughly says you have a QB and receiver? Well....l pass your stacked with backs then run, it's not exactly Rocket science.

It seems like a good sign that he is planning on attending the B&G game even after his announcement... why would he come back to South Bend if he announces to go to SC.. doesn't make sense to me

Shamrock83, it could be that he chose to attend the game before he made up his mind. If he chooses SC, then I would expect him to cancel the trip to the B&G game.

Sir John, I agree with you (mostly :) ). I do not think JC will make or break this class. If JC chooses ND, then he will likely bring with him several top recruits that we might not have a shot at. If JC chooses not to come to ND, then CW and staff will have to work a bit harder in recruiting.

JC may be the difference between a top 5 - 10 class, and the #1 class (running away).
