Amen! Best luck in future endeavors Charlie and family!

I was really pissed off when the band started playing the 1812 Overture at the end of the UCONN game and everyone started booing.

and, from a football standpoint, he has left the next coach with soooooo much more than willingham (and arguably even davie) did. for that alone he will have my eternal gratitude.

wish everyone on here would contribute to this thread. but, i'm sorry to say, i'm not holding my breath...

I agree. Charlie cared about this job. He did everything he could...it just didn't work out. The man truly cared about ND. I have no ill will towards him at all. I really hope he succeeds back in the NFL....and I would love to see him around campus again sometime down the road. I hope he doesn't abandon ND.

Glad this thread was started. It's too bad Charlie wasn't the guy. From "pass right" to having the highest graduation rate, he did a lot of positive things.

I'd also like to thank coach Weis for getting some freakin talent in here. We were borderline looking at not getting enough scholarship players to fill out a roster under Willingham. He did many other good things too. We all know the stories.

And that is why we should never play that and the alma mater at the end of a loss. It looks like a funeral displayed on national television. It is embarrassing. Period.

I will add my thanks here. I appreciate the work that CW put into this university and its players. Unlike others, I will miss Charlie and had held out until the end that he would return. Good luck Charlie and thank you

I didn't think it was very cool of the fans to do that.

That said, it's hard for me to get riled up about anything ND related right now...this whole last 6 or so weeks have been a circus that is only tolerable by pretending not to care and drinking very large amounts of alcohol on Saturday afternoons.

Remember in Superbad when that janitor at the liquor store cracks open a beer and chugs it following the store being robbed? Yeah that was me when they started playing that song on saturday.

We can only hope to find another coach who will care for, love, and work as hard for ND as CW does. I wish thing would have worked out better for him, but both parties will be better off in the long run....

I want to say thanks to Charlie for taking a job that that realistically no sane, prideful college wanted 5 years ago. everyone knew it was going to be a rough patch and the coach was going to take his fair share of grief for sub .500-.500 years. Charlie loved his alma mater and wanted to be the one to rebuild the storied program. his efforts, although didn't produce enough consistancy on the field, were not in vein. i have a feeling that Charlie will be more appreciated in 1,2,3,+ years down the road after a proven college coach begins to win with the talent that Charlie brought in. thank you Charlie and i wish nothing but the best for you and your family.

Thanks Charlie for your love and devotion to Notre Dame! Here in Alabama I had to defend your arrogance time and time again, but the rednecks could not see past their Beer can's or Elephant visors. You have shown that you are deep in your pride and in your life! It is very unfortunate that your passion for the game did not translate well to college football. God Bless you and your family in all you do! But, I have one last request before you leave! Tell any of these kids that respect and love you they need to keep their asses at Notre Dame and finish their degree. They should not leave because of you, and should be true to the gold and blue! (I must be tired because that just rhymed)

I want to quote most you guys... Charlie is a good guy and I feel he gave his heart to ND... Best of luck to him and his family !!
