Sounds pretty damning, I am almost to the point were just make it known. It doesn't take a genius to read the tea leaves. I will defer to Mr Swarbrick(not like I had a choice not to) I am on bended knee praying that we have a replacement ready to go.

I think that IF a recruiting trip was scheduled and canceled that Swabrick is an IDIOT for telegraphing that out there . . . does this mean that Charlie is fired BUT he doesn't have a replacement on the hook? It sure sounds like it. Why wouldn't you continue recruiting FOR THE PROGRAM (regardless of who is going to be running it)? Or is it just too confusing for a recruit to meet with Charlie and when asked the million dollar question by the recruit, Charlie has to respond "I don't know if I will be the coach there or not." Silly stuff and not the product of superior negotiation skills, IMHO.

I would think that for a recruiting trip to be cancelled for CW is because there will be a new HC doing the recruiting.

After hearing Kelly totally dance around the question at his presser...I now firmly believe he will be the next coach at ND. And I think it's a great hire. This guy has developed 1 and 2* guys into great football players much like Nebraska used to do all the time. He's a proven winner at every level. Only unknown for me about Brian Kelly is whether or not he can convince 5* guys to play at ND.

It was also an unknown for Charlie and I think he proved that top guys want to come to ND . If he is our coach hopefully he can combine player development with great recruiting.

I'm not sure who it is going to be. Based on all the latest noise I wouldn't be surprised if it was Kelly or Stoops. But, who the hell really knows anything right now?

Well, I just always figured CW won the guys over by being brutally honest and showing them that he knew how to pave the path to the NFL. I think he could tell them that they will feel totally comfortable day 1 in the NFL because we operate the exact same way at ND.

 

Kelly would have to win them over on charisma and a good record at Cincinatti. CW also had an advantage recruiting elite QB's.

 

I didn't mean to imply that Kelly wouldn't be able to do it, but it is the ONE thing he hasn't proven he can do.
