This has been said a few times by different posters on NDNation. Apparently, it's the motto of the mods in regards to the new coach. Anybody care to speculate or interpret? (Besides taking pot shots at NDNation. You know me, I love to take shots, but not on this thread. It's too easy.) Let's see if we can figure this out. I do think we are involved in a huge campaign of silence. I just want to know how it's all gonna shake out.

It's nothing specific-they are concerned that if people start throwing too much stuff against in the wall in regards to rumors, that it could endanger ND's search. You have to remember how full of themselves they are.

After having initial high hopes - I am beginning to think we will once again end up with our third or fourth choice. This choice most likely being Kelly and to be honest I am not excited about or not excited about - I honestly don't know how he will translate to ND.

I think Kelly would translate well to Notre Dame.

We may "end up" with Kelly, but I think he's not third our fourth choice.

 

For awhile now, I think the top two were Meyer and Kelly. Meyer was the pie in the sky scenario, and Kelly was the more likely case -- and I have no problem with the guy coaching at ND next year.

 

I just hope Patterson gets a long look as well.

ND mods have no clue and are going to imply that they have either insider info and are holding it, or as you said, are going to stand back in awe at what they percieve they are capable of. either way... clowns...

 

 

from down here in texas i get the impression from radio/news/tx boards that the wheels are coming off at OU and that Stoops could be a real possibility. supposedly staff problems, player problems, and it's translating into a bad season. given that this started with injuries. anyhow, stoops... prob my choice 2.

I agree that it looks like we will have to go down the list, luckily this year the lists 3rd and 4th choices if they are kelly and patterson are much better options then we had in 04. I like kelly a lot and think he could be great, im not sure though its def a gamble (hawkins comes to mind) and its tough to gamble at this point but we may have no choice.

 

I like that Patterson is a defensive minded coach, kelly doesnt have a background in defense and this team needs a tough defensive mind to cure its ailments. I would be excited for both and i feel that both would be a huge step forward, but i wouldnt be ecstatic like I would be with Meyer or Stoops (after reading all the Meyer and Stoops BS for the last two weeks i was starting to believe)

Ugghhh...I was hearing such promising things, too. Unfortunately, I hit a wall that couldn't tell me anything conclusively about who it will be. I honestly don't know how Urban can turn down so much money; but if this is true, and not a smoke screen, NEXT!

 

I have to wonder, though. Swarbrick is saying stupid stuff about waiting until the end of the season. Weis is saying stupid stuff, like he doesn't know. Those are both attempts to shut down the media. Will the future coach do the same? I'm not going to hope. I'll just be surprised with whoever we pick.

I sound like a broken record by now but I would not be upset with Kelly at all. And I'd be satisfied with Patterson. And I don't see how we could get past them this time around. So we will end up with a quality coach. It's just a matter of whether or not it's one who's won a NC.

 

Wave, as for the silence is golden thing, i agree with goldfinger that it mostly just means that people should just chill out and hope we don't hear anything until it comes out. That, however, is unrealistic in the internet age. I know I'm pathetic, but I can't open an internet window these days without wondering if there's more news on hte situation, and I'm sure I'm not alone on that. Plus, I don't get paid to speculate on it, but a bunch of other morons do.

 

I think only one thing is certain, Charlie is done. We've contacted some big names. I think we get a good coach this time around. I'd love to get stoops but sadly I know i'd be left to wonder if we were missing out on the next Meyer by not getting Kelly....even more pathetic I might still have that latent feeling if we got meyer himself ....grass always greener.
