The South Bend Tribune has a story reporting Vegas' take on how the coaching candidates rate on the betting line:

Florida's Urban Meyer is 3-2, Cincinnati's Brian Kelly 3-2, Stanford's Jim Harbaugh 3-1, Oregon's Chip Kelly 5-1, Iowa's Kirk Ferentz 10-1, Oklahoma's Bob Stoops 20-1, Monday Night Football's Jon Gruden 30-1.

Odds favor Pope Urban. How did Chip Kelly rate such low odds and Stoops such high odds?

Who would you put your money on?

If Ferentz becomes our coach - i'm out. I'll follow ND hockey and basketball and womens field hockey.....but I couldn't stomach a Ferentz led ND football team......

Watch it be Charlie back for another year. That would blow everyone away. So does this mean its actually possible to bet on who the new coach will be? Seriously, is this possible?

The odds site was Bodog.com and the bet is if Charlie Weis is not the head coach the 1st week in 2010 who will be the coach, not who will be the coach in 2010.

Who will be the coach of Notre Dame Football for Week 1 of the 2010 Season if it is not Charlie Weis?

All wagers have action. (This Prop is Closed for Betting)

Urban Meyer 3/2

Brian Kelly 3/2

Jim Harbaugh 3/1

Chip Kelly 5/1

Kirk Ferentz 10/1

Bob Stoops 20/1

John Gruden 30/1

I can't guarantee the link will work but here:

3/2 on Meyer is ridiculous. No matter what he's said in the past, he's probably the longest shot of them all. Grain of salt stuff feeding off of rumors to get some action going.

I posted the source but since I'm new I guess it has to be moderated.

The actual question the bet is based on is:

"Who will be the coach of Notre Dame Football for Week 1 of the 2010 Season if it is not Charlie Weis?"

Not who will be, but who will be if it is not Charlie Weis.

A big welcome to DD Irish Convert. I am glad your with the family now and posting. Thanks.

Women's crew will be a hoot to watch. No way Ferentz is here.

I will take any action you guys want at 3:2 on Urban Meyer...You think Urban comes you bet $20 and if he does, I'll send $30... If not, you paypal me the $22 (10% vig)

I like that line on Stoops.

What do the odds makers know that everyone else seems to have missed about Stoops? The general scuttlebut is that he has a good shot at coming to ND and he is the guy most folks on this board want.

I am with you on this.

My reaction to getting Pat Fitzgerald would be very similar to the reaction you see on Antique Roadshow when someone thinks they have a priceless artifact and the expert tells them it is a worthless replica......

The media is really out of control on this. Theres so much crap floating around thats its actually getting really comical. Im starting to enjoy it. Well, heres some more to laugh at. A guy from SI sports, Christian Dyer, did a radio show in New York (I think) and is saying Meyer to ND is a done deal. If I had a link Id post it. I thinks is a station called WFAN? Anyway go check it out. Fun stuff. If I can find the link I'll post it.

That radio station is similar to Bleacher Report. Basically there is no credibility because of the wide array of fans that appear on it.

its not far off from what i heard from a few sources.
