I know we've been getting after the whole coaching thing, so as a little break, I figured I would rant a little bit about this sham of a movie. Do you want the real story? Yes, one of my degrees is film, so I know it's fiction; but there is a difference in fiction and exploiting a kid.

Here's the story. The Blind Side claims that the Tuoys found Oher on the side of a road. What I was told by a number of sources, however, is that Oher was already at Briarcrest when the Tuoys found him. He was brought into the home of a pastor and was shooting hoops in the gym when they found him. What you have to know about the Tuoys is that she was big time at Ole Miss in undergrad and Tuoy was a huge basketball player for them in what would be considered glory years. Their kids, unfortunately, weren't going to be a part of that glory, because they lack athletic ability. The Tuoys saw a chance to bring Oher into their home and get him to Ole Miss so they could walk around the Grove like they ruled the roost, again. TSSAA won't let you pay for a kid's school if they aren't immediate family, so they adopted him. After getting dominated in high school as a player, it came time for the recruiting process. (What I learned is that raw talent will get you into college. It doesn't matter how badly you played in high school, because we have film of the kid & he was atrocious.) Anyway, the head coach at Briarcrest used Oher to elevate himself into the college game by telling Fulmer, you can have Oher if you take me, too. The Tuoys found out about this and said, hell no, he's going to Ole Miss. This left the coach scrambling, but he duped Orgeron into hiring him by saying Oher was going to UT. Unfortunately, Oher couldn't pass classes to get into Ole Miss, so he had to take some online classes. The tutor played by Kathy Bates did all of his work for him, so much so that the BUI made Oher retake those classes, because it was obvious that he hadn't done the work.

Note: The Producer produced PS I Love You, so it's no wonder that Ms. Tuoy's role has become central to the movie. You can't tell me she went to the projects of Memphis and yelled at some thugs in a city that lost the Per Capita Murder Rate Championship to Detroit by 3 murders this year, or that a coach would allow her on the field, especially a guy with an ego like the real Briarcrest head coach.

Anyway, there was a book out that stretched the truth, but the new movie completely kills the truth. The Tuoys have ridden this poor kid's coattails the whole way simply to make themselves look better. She is old Southern money, so it makes sense. Anyway, it's my opinion, from my sources, that there is a special place in hell for people who exploit a kid like this; and I refuse to see the movie. There's your break from the coaching search.

(PS - there's a whole other storyline to the football coach snaking his way through everything that is continuing as we speak. I think his story is much better and doesn't have to be fabricated.)

Bahhhhhhh... go ahead and see it! Just because it's 50-75% unadulterated horseshit doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed for entertainment value.

Dude, go see it. I'm sure for cinematic sake, it's going to be a very good movie. It just pisses me off that the real story isn't out there, too. The previews make it look very good, though i can't get over my personal issue with it. But, seriously, go see it. You'll enjoy it, I'm sure.

Michael Oher has come out and said that so much... He has refused to do any endorsement or PR for the movie and the closest you will find is him giving an interview for ESPN who is a part of Disney, who is producing the movie...

It's a shame, because the real story would have been entertaining enough...

I believe this is a Disney movie, could be wrong, but its not like they took the miracle on ice and made changed that up. I watched the making of "miracle" and the players commented on the late night skating punishment session, and how exaggerated Herb Brooks' character was (they said he wasn't nearly the dick he came across as)...but they at least got the gist of the story correct...

Another example of Hollywood f-ing things up in order to broaden its marketing appeal and profitability...

It's pure masturbation for Memphis. The producer is the owner of FedEx's daughter who decided to use Kathy Bates in a story about a kid from Memphis. Whatever... I guess it's a big step up from Operation Dumbo Drop. PS I Love You was a good movie (insert gay dancing deer), but this is homerism at its worst by being blind to the reality of the Blind Side. Promote the city at all costs. Blah...

Any movie starring Lou Holtz is worth seeing...

believe me, the same assertions could be made about "invincible", the vince papale story. there wasn't one part of that story that wasn't a lie, an embellishment or just outright bulls%^t. i have several friends that know papale well and they just crack up any time the movie is mentioned. it always turns into a thirty minute revision of the facts with a lot of knee slap laughter. the same can be made about "rudy". rudenkowicz was NOT revered by his teamates. just barely tolerated................that being said, i'll go see it just for fun.....................

They liked him enough to carry him off the field...

I'm not giving up my sources on this one, but let's just say that the movie isn't close to reality. Certain people are exploiting this poor kid. Why do you think Briarcrest didn't want to have the name of their school put in the movie? They didn't want to touch this with a ten foot pole. My sources are very close to the situation, as I grew there, too, and know coaches involved as well.
