I've seen this on this board and a few others. Does anyone else see that as a legit possibility if he leaves? I don't. He is a great college WR, but undersized for a pro wideout. I could see him as a slot receiver or a third wideout, but those aren't drafted in the second round. I think he needs to come back, but he isn't going to get any taller. Maybe I am wrong, I have been before, but I wouldn't assume he is gone next year.

Tate is no worse than a 2nd round pick if he goes pro.....more than likely he would be a 1st round pick. You won't see it on any draft boards because he is a Junior and wasn't expected to make the jump this year.

I'd say late first to 2nd round for him.

Steve Smith for Carolina, how tall is he? Would you consider him a #1. My only question on Tate is his speed, what is his 40?

Tate is a mix between Hines Ward and Steve Smith... If I'm a GM looking for a complete WR, I take him no questions asked...

Sure he isn't 6'3, but he catches everything...is dangerous in the open field...returns kicks and is never caught from behind.

In high school he ran 4.4... I imagine it is something close to that still...and with this being a weaker WR class than next year (jones, green, floyd, etc..) and his head coach likely to be gone and a new QB coming in...He would be foolish to return. His game is complete and does not have anything that he will improve on in the next year.

I've done some more resarch and just about every mock draft I found has him in the top two rounds if he comes out. One had him a top 12 pick in the 2011 draft. (A few of these had Jimmy #1 overall)

So great, my second day on the board and I've already lost all credibility with player evaluation.

LOL....I wouldn't go that far. I am still convinced JC has the best set of skills I have ever seen in 1 QB.....but Kiper has him as the 3rd QB in this draft behind the next Chad Penington.

i dont know what Golden is like on running routes, but thats one area im sure NFL coaches would study alot of film to see.

hes got the speed.

hes not going to get any taller.

great hands, when he wants to. ive seen him drop too many easy balls, but make great tough catches.

if a new coach could talk to him and convince him that maybe ND could compete for a national championship next season then i would love to see Tate come back, but if Tate feels he is ready for the NFL and is interested in the money then i wouldnt be surprised to see him go ..because i dont this draft stock is going to get much better through next season.

Honestly he translates very well to the NFL. Steve Smith (CAR) is a perfect comparison. Another name to throw out is Percy Harvin. I his first year, I think Golden will be used similarly to Harvin for the Vikings. The only difference is Harvin is probably faster and Golden is a better with the ball in the air plus more difficult to tackle.

I definitely see a team falling in love with him and taking him in the first.

I love Golden Tate and I believe that family will play a huge part in this decision. Therefore, if he gets a 1st round projection then he will go. If he gets a 2nd round offer then he will most likely go. If he gets a 3rd round offer with a big signing bonus then he will probably go. If he gets offered Jefferson's Trans Am from Fast Times at Ridgemont High and the rookie minimum then he'll probably go. Other than that, I predict Golden Tate will stay next year! :)

LOL!!! I am with you on this one....I think?!?!?!?! :-)

coach hit the nail on the head wit hthe comparisons. I think everyone likes comparing him to Steve Smith but Hines Ward might be the better comparison.

As far as his draft stock, it all depends on his forty. Cause his playmaking speaks for itself. I dont remember but im sure Ward wasn't a high pick depite deserving to be.

Hines was also a QB at UGA if I remember correctly

If Ted Ginn Jr can be one of the top ten picks, then so should Tate. Tate is a much better player than that farce Ginn.

Ginn was a top 10 because GMs fell in love with his home run speed (which was stupid of them). Tate is fast, but not that fast.

I watched Hines play between the hedges versus Auburn. He played QB, RB, WR , DB and returned kicks, punts or both. I think he even punted (pooch). I couldn't believe he could play all of those positions. Best all around college player that I have ever seen.
