Very, Very heavy chatter and excellent sources confirming that it's over. Time to move on. I don't know details, though. My guess, is Charlie gets the opportunity to publicly resign while getting a nice severance, maybe even the full payout.

Interesting comments about ESPN and their discussions about Gruden, ND, and Clausen, too. I guess we'll have to wait, though. There are a lot of big names lined up. There is good info about Meyer, too. I was in Knoxville and learned that the UF AD understands the reality of Meyer. Meyer is open about his love for ND and the UF AD knows it. It is what it is, apparently, for them. The Stoops info is very interesting, as well; and the Kelly info is well documented. We have four guys in that paragraph who could do a very good job, but I think a few of those names a more cut out than others. We shall see.... Merry Christmas to us, I guess.

How sure are you of this info Wave? If true, I couldn't be happier and excited for ND's future. Think I'm gonna cry....

If you want me to be honest, these aren't overly personal. I think they are coming from two sources that I found. Having said that, these two guys have beef with each other but shared the info anyway and confirmed. On UHND, TheIrishHammer makes the allegation. After PMing SEE from NDNation, SEE confirms to his boys at NDNation without getting into specifics. I've been watching both of these guys for a long time. Despite my disdain for their boards, these two guys are very credible about a great many things. Hammer has somebody really good on the inside. I don't know who, but he's always on the front end of things.

I wish I could give you more, but I'm limited on this one.

Yea, I read them going at it over there but SEE does admit that he's usually right at NDN.

Isn't Hammer the one who says "big news afoot" or some thing like that? I always thought his info was not very good but I don't go to those sites so I wouldn't know.

Yeah, but I've jumped around to quite a few boards and the signs abound. There is an article on rivals that says it all. We were lackluster and could care less about practice this week. Golden Tate said the pregame speech was go out, give it your all, it's a pro stadium. Nothing more, nothing less. It makes me think the 10 win info from this summer was correct or that a discussion was had after the Navy loss. Either way, it looks and quacks like a lame duck coach, now. Just browse for yourself to the boards and articles from the biggest homers and you'll see it, if you don't trust SEE and TheHammer. It's over. PS - I think the Hammer gets a bad rap.

Wave, I've been hearing the exact same thing. Apparently, this was going to happen regardless if Weis didn't bring home at least 10 wins. They knew he had the weapons this year. I just hope that with all these possibilities for head coaches, the administration doesn't screw it up and set us back another 5 years. I've talked a lot of smack about UM, but he isn't just in it to etch his name on the wall. He has ties here and, even being handicapped with admissions, he will bring in top 5 recruiting classes and build on what we already have. I, for one, will be trippin daisies if we get Stoops or Meyer. I will be hesitant with the rest.

Do we really need sources WAVE--- its obvious that the decision had to be made after PITT-- if there was a grain of indecision after navy there couldnt be after PITT--- so sourced or not is hardly relevant-- the deed was done over the last two weeks--- exactly how its handled is a question but not an important one really

the second are the coaches--- i mean these are all the usual suspects------meyer although highly unlikely given his position in florida-- but nonetheless he did get the last offer and making inquires wouldnt be unreasonable from the administrations perspective--- stoops is in the sun times-- kelly is on every board ten times-- gruden has been my choice till stoops name came up now i'm torn-- stoops runs a fun offense as well as a tough defense----- so the DEED IS DONE i think is not news---- THE DEAL IS DONE___ NOW THERE IS THE NEWS WE WILL ALL BE WAITING FOR____ aloha go irish!

Easy Hawaii brother,

He is just reporting what he heard that it's official. No problems.

I know it's hard for you, as it is for me because I truly like CW and wish it could have been him doing it.

No need to "kill the messenger" bud. :)

There ya go. A couple of articles to look at. Also, another source since the beginning of this post confirms Weis is gone. Unfortunately, this one isn't linkable. Unfortunately, disclosing this one could affect his job... Blah.

***I just read Hawaii's post, so I'm editing to add a response. Hawaii, dawg, I'm totally in line with you on the coaching succession. But, I do have to disagree that this is obvious as far as letting Weis go. Yeah, we all may have our suspicions, but hard evidence helps us come to grips with what actually happens. We can stop thinking what if on Weis and start thinking about the excitement of the future. This is a new beginning, whether we were willing to accept this beginning or not. It's time to get excited, while respecting Weis and thanking him with the sincerest professionalism and gratitude for everything he did to bring us back. I love Weis as a person, but it is what it is. We'll be fine, brutha! It's Big XII football! Wait, no it's not...

Love the info wave!! Keep it coming, it's only 9 here on the left coast. BTW that UM article was from last year.

its not hard at all-- in fact like everyone else i am excited and looking forward to making a great hire this time and not screwing up as has been our want--- charlie was out last week IMO-- and by his own hand-- so i have very little sympathy for blowing what everyone knew was the " hot seat year "--- he had a very good team and produced not very good results--- sorry if my post came off rude, didnt mean it that way-- i guess i am just a little impatient with chatter over IF when we all know THERE IS NO IF__speculation about who at this point seems to be PURE SPECULATION--ALBEIT ALL VERY INTERESTING AND EXCITING---- I JUST HOPE WE WILL BE AS EXCITED WHEN THE "DEAL IS DONE"---MOST OF THE NAMES BANDIED ABOUT WILL DO IT FOR ME__ JUST LETS NOT END UP WITH JOE SHMO FROM KOKOMO!!___don't confuse my yanciness with regrets about firing weis speed-- yes i was rooting for the team -- expected a very good year -- and had little doubt charlie would survive given the team he started the season with---But as far as charlie goes--- i lived through almost 40 of the NAVY WINS -- FOR ME PITT WAS AN AFTERTHOUGH__ IF IT WAS MY DECISION__ NAVY WOULD HAVE BEEN PLENTY TO PULL THE TRIGGER ON THE WEIS ERA----- so for me-- I AM LOOKING FORWARD WITH BATED BREATH FOR SOMEONE WHO WILL GIVE US A WINNG TEAM AGAIN____ ALOHA GO IRISH!

the florida article is just so much pap we have heard so many times--- i mean how many of us didnt know ND was URBAN MEYERS DREAM JOB ACCORDING TO HIM---- and how much detailed evaluations have we done on this site over the last 3 years on would urban or would he not-- he loves me , he loves me not

Stoops is more interesting cause its new-- but the sun-times article -- that we all heard about was the basis of the article----sound good but still its an article based on one sourced quote about general interest--

as i said i will be waiting with bated breath for THE DEAL TO BE DONE--- and i'm sure it will be exciting-- well i'm almost sure-- until then i will enjoy the specualtion as just that-- specualtion----- the only thing without a doubt to me-- is charlie's out-- who is in-- will be fun to see----- aloha go irish

Yeah... I just realized that. Poor research. Anyway, here is more interesting stuff to get the thoughts flowing. Obviously, not much of this is official. It's just what people are saying. Nothing more. Have fun! PS - I figured out how to limit my search to the last week, so no more outdated stuff. Sorry...

There's a few more. What's funny is that in all of my searches 1) a lot of them went to Chattanooga papers... Is that the media center of the world??? WTF? And, 2) a lot of papers just regurgitate each other, even failing to change the titles of the sources from which they received the info. Man, there's about as much originality in beginning this thread as there is in today's journalism. Wow!

***In response to Hawaii, since I'm taking so long to complete these posts, I'm just throwing this stuff out there to keep us busy until we finally have our new coach. It's like Christmas, you have to keep doing stuff to stay occupied until it's finally time to fall asleep and see what you got the next morning.

I too am sad to see the big guy gone from this school but he blazed his own trail. Thank you Mr.Weis for making Notre Dame fun to watch again and for giving us hope. He will do well in the NFL once again, who knows maybe he could be reunited with Brady or Jimmy down the road.

I can't wait to see who becomes the next coach and much like Hawaii I was favoring Gruden but now talks of Stoops and even UM have me trying to decide what would be best for us. GO IRSIH!

I hope Charlie comes out Saturday with Green Jerseys on and lets Jimmy loose to bomb away for their last great day in South Bend. I would also like to see James Aldridge and all the rest of the seniors sent out with a win.
