What would you think if our next coach had the following records

2010 9-3

2011 8-3

2012 8-4

2013 8-3

or

2010 9-4

2011 10-3

2012 11-3

2013 9-0

What would you say?

are we beating USC in any of these years? if not, then there would be no reason to change coaches. are we only playing 9 games in 2013? :D

honestly it depends on who ND loses too. I mean yea upsets happen to all top programs, but top programs dont have more than one upset a year. For example Florida lost to Ole Miss, only loss of the year, ND lost to bad Michigan team and lost to a Navy team( i respect them but theres no reason ND should lose to them 2 outta 3 years...)

so we are all ok with 3 and 4 losses for the next 3 years? how is that different than now?

Well you gave two options, one of which has us only playing (but winning!) 9 games. If given the two options I'd say the second one is more appealing. Were you just trying to prove your point by subtely trying to trick everyone into picking one of two options? Also, why are we playing 14 games in 2012?

I would say "mediocrity has set in" and if you are happy with that, so be it. If we don't have a 1 loss season with a chance to go undefeated twice in the next 4 years, we have NOT improved.

Next season, like this season, looks like a 2 loss season "at most" on paper. And like this season, the games are not played on paper, so we will probably have 4 losses.

Why is the first coach only playing 11 games in '11 and '13?

Why is the second coach playing 14 games in '12 and only 9 in '13?

those are both records of brian kelly at his last 2 stops. so why is everyone so anxious to have the same thing at ND when you have stated that is would be the same we have now?????

No, they aren't. Brian Kelly's records is the following:

CMU:

4-7

6-5

9-4

Cincy:

10-3

11-3

9-0

Why do we want it? Because he took over a CMU team that hadn't won more than 4 games in the five years preceding Kelly taking over, because he's undefeated and beating teams with inferior talent, and because EVERY TEAM HE'S COACHED GETS BETTER THE LONGER HIS TENURE GOES.

You guys fail to put context in any of these quotes. Context shows that Brian Kelly is a helluva football coach, yet you insist he's mediocre. And then when you try to back up your posts with facts, your facts are flat out wrong.

Kelly's team get better with each year he's there. That's the sign of a great football coach.

Weis? Not so much.
