a Rivals reporter stated today that Jimmy Clausen really likes the ND opportunity and he would be shocked if Jimmy goes anywhere other than Notre Dame.

he also said Tyler prefers to stay close to home and his favorite school is USC.

I've felt very confident ever since I read the piece on JC's dad. His father's comments were very telling as he talked about the importance of coaching to the next level. He wants his kid in the NFL and what better platform than weekly national TV under the tutelage of Charlie Weis? Not to mention the Catholic connection. It simply would make no sense to play for Spurrier (how many times does SC play on national TV?) or even USC. Weis is THE reason JC is coming.

You're right Joe. That interview with Jimmy's father was the point I felt good.

I just dont understand why any running back would want to go to USC right now... they are extremely deep at the position

ND is fairly deep at the position right now since we are bringing in Aldridge.. but those new guys are unproven... It just frustrates me that these kids just flock to USC when the school is so deep at every position

I guess they just see USC as being a proven winning team (recently).. and want to be a part of it.. but why not come to a school and rebuild a dynasty

The comments you referred to were not made by Jimmy Clausen, but by his coach.

I'm a brand new member and have really enjoyed the posts. Notre Dame football can definitely be addicting.

Just one quick question regarding Clausen - isn't it also a fairly telling sign that CW has only offered one QB at this point if he didn't think that JC was already locked up? There are plenty of good QB's out there who have expressed an interest in Notre Dame.

The article was entitled "Oaks Christian is where the talent is." They have three top 50 recruits nationallyat this private school in Weslake Village (CA) - Jimmy Clausen QB, Marc Tyler RB, and Marshall Jones S. The coach indicated that Clausen likes the situation at Notre Dame; Tyler is leaning two USC because he would like to stay near home [interesting comment, since he lives with the Clausen's], although there was an indication that he might end up at UCLA if they push hard enough; and Jones, who apparently has academic issues. They are considered three of the top five prospects in the state. What a powerhouse! Oaks Christian has five other players who already hold early scholarship offers!

I guess he just wants to show JC that he is not looking in other directions.. sort of like to tell him he's the guy.. because we do already have Frazer and Jones.. so we arent desperate for QB's

We don't really need to offer anyone else.. only if JC chooses somewhere else.. then we can just pick up any one of the number of decent QB's who would come to ND at the drop of a hat

Hey mwinely welcome again and nice to have you. I think your correct. Even if Clausen doesn't come we have probably the #2 whoever QB in nation. There will just really be no room for another QB as I see it developing in 2007.

You are correct. I should have clarified that.

Winely, welcome to the DD. Hope to see more of ya here.

It seems that Oaks Christian is stocked with talent this year. Some analyst in SoCal compare them to the 2001 Long Beach Poly team that was also very talented(although De La Salle beat them :D)

here is some of the 2001 long Beach Poly teams
