I'm reading post after post about how bad the defense is, and I agree totally, and how prolific the offense is, and again, I agree. Would it not be the answer to hire a new defensive coordinator to take over the defense and build up that side of the ball? We've got CW as the "offensive genius" and he has done a great job, for the most part, with the offense this year. I just think a DC to compliment him would possibly help.

 

It's just a thought, I just hate all this turmoil going on.

CW definitely called a bad game against navy. We didn't run the ball at all. He talked about the defense being on the field the whole game and said that was the reason why we had no rhythm essentially. Well Charlie, there's a quick fix for that, RUN THE FOOTBALL!!! And we need a new defensive coordinator. I've been saying since the michigan game that Tenuta has been an absolute abortion as DC.

There's obviously a problem on all sides of the ball. So Many mistakes on defense are mental mistakes and undisciplined penalties. Same on offense. Too many problems. This falls on the head coach. Clean out the entire staff and start over again. Press the restart button on notre dame football bc this obviously is not working. The only thing left to try now is change

Something that got brushed of back when it started. Could part of the problem be that Charlie doesn't have any time to focus on the defense during a game because he's too busy doing mop up post possession with the offense on the sidelines?

Unless you're anger is not about my comment...I'm gonna point out that I'm agreeing with you, the "apparents" were meant to suggest sarcasm toward his supposed traits that are non existent.

agreed however 3 turnovers 2 in the red zone didn't help....that gives us 35 points two missed field goals thats 41 and could of had one more on the goal line stand series thats 44 also have amost 500 yards passing not exactly anemic. Navy shortens the game so you get a lot less chances. No excuses it falls squarely on the players and ultimately Charlie....but lets not pretend that Navy dominated us on defense because they didn't we shut ourselves down.

Selecting a staff is a very large part of being a head coach. So is being involved on the defensive side of the ball.

 

You can't point at the offense and say "see! That's good!" and be saved from the axe falling on your head. There's a lot more to the job than that, and that will be what causes Weis to be canned.

Well we had over 500 yards of offense. We averaged 3 yards per rushing attempt and 9 yards passing. Even if you factor in incompletions, our passing productivity was still more than double the run. Plus you could argue that the way the game went, he had to pass. Face it this team has never run the ball well and Weis/staff are to blame for that, but the heavy passing in the game is not why we lost the game.

 

If Floyd doesn't miss a signal, the field goal kicker doesn't miss a chip shot, and Jimmy doesn't fumble, the game would have been much different. None of these things have anything to do with coaching. I do believe Charlie's time is up but let's not throw all the problems his way.
